Made this thread in honor of their YouTube page no longer being restricted outside of Japan. And also because they release their debut album next week.

Hemlock has been championing them for months. It's good to spread them outside of the JRock thread.

makes no sense to open up these PVs but the trailer for the album that was uploaded today on the same channel is blocked and unlisted. I had to use that proxy site to watch it.

Yeah, I saw that. I clicked on the full Mannequin pv to get the address for the proxy and was surprised when it played regularly.

Hi, I joined just to comment here. I didn't know about this band until someone mentioned it at another forum (2 days ago) and so I gave them a try. I searched youtube first and Vanilla really left a deep impression on me, I think because of the dark lyrics and basically depressing song but I love it.

After listening to Cyanotype and their previous mini-albums, I've become a fan. I really love their musical style and although I'm still confused how it's even possible to fuse folk and punk/alternative rock together as Haruka claimed their musical direction to be, I guess I do understand a bit now of the influence. I think they're talented girls and hope they'll be bigger and more well-known soon.

I saw that Hate You video is up but it's blocked, I hope it'll be opened up soon like their other PVs.

Ohh welcome! I hope you stick around! I was confused about the folk influence at first too. And I'm sure the new pv will be unblocked soon.

Thanks, I'll definitely stick around as this is the only thread I can find on the band so far ^^

So any favorite songs from the new album? Might be nice to start a bit discussion/thoughts...Mine are:

Dry Ice - nice chorus and the guitar riffs during bridge always gets to me every single time.

Cyanotype - Love the melody to bits, so addictive I can listen to it whole day long xD

Nagai Machiawase - Very nice slower song and the lyrics are bittersweet/somewhat sad (it's like waiting forever for someone who will never come). Also they continued the song with just the instrumentals after singing, brilliant outro.

Vanilla - Personal favorite and the song that got me into the band so it's special to me.

Anyone else is pretty surprised that Furidashi ni Modoru is such a short track? Only 2:23 mins. But I like Haruka's voice and attitude in it.

Overall, it's a pretty solid album for a debut. I ordered a copy straightaway, I'm really happy with the music I'm hearing and already looking forward to their next single. I feel they have great potential to go further. It's got good balance of slow and fast-paced tracks too and they're pretty versatile. Haruka's vocals are nice and fits the music and her lyrics are often very depressing but idk why I like them. It makes me wonder if she personally experiences some of the things she sings about, but I like that she explores them and channels their anger/frustration through songs.

Yeah, we tend to talk about some acts that aren't really talked about on other English language sites about Japanese music.

I would probably say my 2 favorite songs on the album were the pre-release digital singles, Mannequin and mosaic. It is a solid debut album. There have been quite a few good debut albums this year, especially from girl bands.

They just released Short version of Nagai Machiawase PV. Seriously though, these teasers are killing me...like why can't they just release the full ones already?

how do you post youtube videos? Sorry I don't know.

Is it just me or they seem to have quite a budget for promotion judging by the many PVs they get to shoot, although they may seem low budget but still considered good for a new band.

It wouldn't be surprised if they shot most of these pvs in one day in the same room. But the amount of pvs is a pleasant surprise.

And to post a YouTube video, when you paste it use "paste as plain text" instead of just "paste."

They just opened up Hate You PV (short version) for public. The video is weird but in an amusing way, can't help but laugh watching them do random dancing/actions. The song itself is funny too (chorus goes sth like "I wanna do bad things to you" lolz...

I'm just wondering if we'll ever get to watch the FULL versions of the music videos released so far.

WTF is with all these videos?

Part of the Hate You pv was shown in the album trailer so it was expected to get a video. Weird and unnecessary but i don't mind artists putting out a lot of videos. Too lazy to look up the trailer again to see if any more are in there that's not released yet.

I do like the song. It's fun and different from their usual stuff.

I just want the full versions of the MVs now lol...

So, I received my physical CD yesterday and thought it'd be interesting to share (although it's pretty much out there if you google around).
I was just curious which songs were composed solely by both Haruka and Miyuki and there are total of 9 songs on the record:

Keshigomu, Dry Ice, Cyanotype, 7nonsense (Miyuki alone), Furidashi ni Modoru, Dengo Gemu, Nagai Machiawase, Knife and Vanilla.
The other 3 tracks: Mannequin, mosaic and Hate You were composed together with another person (whose name I can't figure out).

I'm just happy to know that most of my favorite tracks were composed solely by the girls.

The packaging for the album is different, it's like a digipak instead of the plastic casing. It's special but also fragile since it's made of cardboard.
