Well, he's right that the animals don't mate in the sense it is not possible for same sex couples to breed. But if he had done just a minimum of studies he would now that same gender animals having sex isn't that uncommon. Especially male-male since females are usually the ones that are hard to get.

 

And if he thinks animals don't know how to have sex just for pleassure, he should know that masturbation is even more common that same sex couplings.
