I cancelled my date for an extra 100 dollars. Now he won't reply to my texts

Don't know if any of you remember, but I posted a topic a couple days ago about how I scored a date with my "dream guy" (not really my dream guy just a guy who was really really cute). That date was supposed to be today, but yesterday when I was at work my manager asked if I could pick up an extra shift for today. Picking up an extra shift means an extra 100 dollars or so, I'm not really in financial trouble right now, but I never say no to extra shifts and work is way more important than a date that may or may not go well. I texted him that work wanted me for that day and that I couldn't go on our date (I made it sound like I had less of a choice though, so it wouldn't seem like I chose work over him).

He didn't reply to my text it was later at night though and I'm aware he goes to bed early, so I figured I'd get a reply in the morning. All day at work I expected a reply, but never got one. I texted him about an hour ago just trying to see how he's doing and he didn't reply either.

So apparently I wrecked things with the super cute guy because he doesn't understand what it's like to work a crappy retail job and have to pick up extra hours. He still has me added on Facebook though, so I guess he doesn't TOTALLY hate me. On a brighter note I'm talking to a new dude, so I guess that one door closing thing is pretty true.

It seems like you weren't even interested in him if it takes you a little over a day to find another individual to date/get interested in. It is childish for the person to not talk to you because of a cancellation but it is also childish for you to NOT CALL HIM. I do not understand why people depend on texting instead of actually talking to build a relationship. Try calling him.

It was a quick simple cancellation it didn't need a phone call.

Perhaps... but you also stated you texted him and he didn't text you back... so why not follow-up with a call? Or a call to apologize for the late cancellation or even a call to check up on him? If you have any interest in him... try calling him. If he doesn't answer... than the ball is back in his court and he is just being immature.

It was for a first date. Calling to check up after he has already ignored my text would seem a little bit much I think. I'm not THAT invested in this guy.

Then you made a decision. You weren't that interested in the person in question as the feelings appear to be fleeting and unsubstantial. Move on; and try to agree to date people you actually are interested in and invest in making the relationship work.
