Trials of immunotherapy showed remarkable results with 94% of terminal leukaemia patients told they had just months to live going into remission. And more than half of 40 suffering other blood cancers were left disease-free, according to US researchers. The treatment could reduce the Âreliance on chemotherapy, which has debilitating toxic side-effects. In a second major breakthrough, an Italian study found the therapy could be used to develop a vaccine-style drug that stops the disease coming back after it has been successfully treated. In the US trial, white blood cells – known as T-cells – were taken from patients suffering acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and genetically modified to target the cancer. They were then injected back into the body – and specialists were amazed at the results. The breakthrough was announced at the American Association for the Advancement of Science conference in Washington DC. Sadly, the "Big Pharma" and the government will never release any info about a cure because they will lose money. But it's amazing that they possibly found one, it can save a lot of people who currently have it and who can potentially have it in the future. This is the corrupt world we live in. you all need to stop with this bullshit "there's a cure already!! it's simple and free!! cancer is a conspiracy!!" how would YOU even know there's a cure? are you a researcher? do you have any knowledge about cancer, medicine, biology? what's the cure then? vegetables? cannabis oil? you're the type of person to believe people you know nothing about that said on internet they cured their stage 4 cancer by drinking carrot juice? i've seen people try those things before, guess what? their cancers spread and they all died. yes - cancer exists and so far there's no real cure for it because each cancer is different so no universal cure will ever work and that's why researchers are working on developping individual treatments. If this story is so huge and a medical breakthrough why haven't major news sites like fox/cnn cover it yet. Ask yourself that. Wouldn't "cancer is cured" be an awesome news headline but in fact it's not for these major news sites. Cancer Research UK’s Dr Kat Arney called the results “exciting†but warned: “The treatment comes with a risk of potentially severe side effects, and doesn’t yet work for all patients. “We still need more trials to know for sure how well they work and whether they can be used in other cancers too. But there’s hope that this type of therapy could save lives.†Prof Riddell’s trial took place over two years. Patients have had at least 18 months remission – but seven people had an Âover-powerful immune system response from which two died. Experts are trying to combat the side-effects.
