Finkl leader, Lee Hyori, actively promoted her solo hit song ‘10 Minutes’ in 2003. These days, the trend of groups debuting one after the other is forming. Recently Girl Group Tint’s (Mei - Sangmi - Mirim - Jamie - Minnie) debut single ‘Love at First Sight’ was released. Of course, they grew up listening to Lee Hyori’s music. The team’s maknae, Minnie, who was born in 1996 revealed that Lee Hyori was the singer she admired most. "For now, showing a sexy image like Lee Hyori sunbaenim’s would be too much for us. We have confidence in showing a cute image that suits our ages." The group’s current image brings back memories of songs Finkl sang, such as « I’m Yours » and « To My Boyfriend ». Like Lee Hyori, they have debuted as members of a cute girl group. They could form their own musical color and develop as artists in the future, so eyes are glued on them. - The team name is Tint. “(Mei) If you look the word up in the dictionary, the meaning is ‘to give color’. The team name holds the meaning of us wanting to paint the music industry with our own unique color.†- Tint’s color is… “(Mirim) Cuteness with girly sensibilities added in. The image of eating ddeokbeokki and shopping with friends, general chit-chatting, and talking about the sunbae you like. It’s still difficult to act sexy for us.†- Tint’s strongest point is… “(Jamie) Other girl groups have maknaes who are 20 years old, but the oldest unnie in our group is 20. We’re young in age and are overflowing with liveliness and freshness. You might think, ‘You’re young, so what can you really do?’ but we want to show everyone the things that we are good at.†- Give an introduction for ‘Love At First Sight’. “(Sangmi) It’s a song of the electronic genre. The five of us express the feelings of young girls. During the chorus there is jump-roping choreography that will remind one of the past. Unnies and oppas will feel nostalgic, and we anticipate that friends in our age group will enjoy watching it.†- You finished your first music broadcasts. Were there any male idols that caught your eye? “(Mirim) We don’t have any interest in male idols. We have to do well ourselves, so honestly, only girl groups came into our line of sight. When monitoring the music ranking programs we only watch the girl groups and pass over the boy group performances.†- When did your dream of being a singer come about? “(Jamie) While attending a humanities high school, I was the vocalist in band club. That was when I thought I should challenge being a singer.†“(Mei) Up until my second year of middle school in China, all I did was study. I was the Gil Lim Sung representative for the oratory competition and even ended up getting first place. But I couldn’t focus on my other talents (because of studying). I realized I wanted to do music more than I wanted to study.†“(Mirim) I’ve wanted to be a singer ever since elementary school. I studied abroad in China and the popularity of BoA’s “My Name†reached all the way over there. Seeing her, I thought that I wanted to become a singer, too. Finally, after overcoming my parents’ opposition, in my third year of high school I transferred to Han Lim Arts High School.†“(Minnie) Ever since my first year of middle school, I watched ‘Music Bank’ and ‘Inkigayo’ on a regular basis. I hardly studied. In the end I secretly auditioned for our company. At that time my dad disagreed intensely, but now he is halfexpecting, half-worried.†“(Sangmi) I wanted to be a singer since elementary school, and when I got to middle school, I wanted to be an actress, so I liked musicals which combined the two.†- Cutest member as chosen by the group. “(Mirim) It’s Minnie. She has a cute face, and her actions are cute, too. There was a time when leader was sick. Minnie woke her up saying ‘Unnie, try to get up’. When she got to the dining table, there was sesame seed porridge. She decorated the rice by sprinkling almonds on top and even took care of getting medicine. From her speaking style to her personality, she’s deathly cute.†- Is there a chic member? “(Mei) Sangmi and Jamie look chic. Their outer appearances give off the feeling of being ‘ice princesses’. They look cold and haughty. However, Jamie’s personality is extremely easy-going and Sangmi is very girly. She likes to decorate things and is really meticulous.†- Sell yourself to everyone with one thing/trait. “(Minnie) When I was young I gained weight like a healthy child. When I was 4, my grandmother said if I participated in the healthy child selection competition I’d win, and I really did win.†“(Mei) If you combine all of the medals and certificates I received in my school days, the amount is over 100.†“(Mirim) Although my life has been short, up until now I’ve had a lot of ups and downs. My parents were very against me being a singer. In the past my facial expressioin was very gloomy and I gained a lot of weight. I heard people saying ‘What kind of singer can that kid be’. But everything changed when I started exercising. I went out for a singing competition and won an award. I also reached the Top 8 on ‘KPop Star’.†- Is Mei Chinese? “(Mei) My father is Chinese, and my mom is Korean. I was born in China and came to Korea in middle shcool. Back then I also changed my citizenship to Korean citizenship. Because I can speak Chinese and Korean fluently, it gives me merit. The company also places high value on those kinds of things, so I think that’s how I got the role of leader. I want to hurry up and promote abroad.†- Mirim joined the team the latest. “(Mirim) I worried about how I could become close with them. We needed to conversate a lot, and I approached them sincerely. It was important to understand everyone’s personalities. At first I was in obervation mode. Eating an apple in the morning and going to the practice room was pitiful so in the morning I would get up and cook, then wake the members up.
