Over the weekend SM Entertainment put on an extraordinary show for a reported 70,000 fans in Beijing.

The 'SMTown in Beijing' idol concert included ten of the company's hottest acts and also marked the first time pop duo Tasty performed as a part of their new agency and SM Entertainment subsidiary, Woollim Label.

Other performers for the huge Chinese performance included Girls' Generation, SHINee, Super Junior, TVXQ, EXO, f(x), BoA, Kangta, and Zhang Li Yin.

The show went off without a hitch at the Beijing Olympic Stadium on October 19. Media reports stated a whopping 70,000 attendees filled the stadium and that public transportation systems surrounding the stadium remained open extra hours to handle the excess number of users that night.

Additionally, it was noted that approximately 18,000 people were brought in to manage the event in different capacities, including a shocking number of security personnel meant to keep the idols safe and the fans in line.

The military police force offered up 10,000 officers to aid in the security efforts and an additional 6,000 personal body guards were also hired by SM Entertainment to help protect the singers. It is also estimated that 2,000 volunteers were also brought in to help with security for the SMTown in Beijiing concert.

But it wasn't all just idols and security - in addition to the 46 artists that performed at Saturday's show, 16 dancers and a staff of 190 flew to China for the gigantic show.

The October 19 show was the first time SM Entertainment held a show of this scale in Beijing.

The tour's next stop is Japan where the ten acts will perform the SMTown Live World Tour III in Tokyo Special Edition on October 26 and 27.

The artists and groups of SMTown gathered once again for the Beijing stop of their third world tour, and now SM Entertainment has released a video clip that gives you a glimpse backstage and shows some of the highlights of the concert.

On October 19, Beijing National Stadium was filled up with 70,000 enthusiastic fans, who came to see and support their favorite SM artists. The ten groups who performed their hit songs at the concert were Super Junior, Girls’ Generation, SHINee, f(x), EXO, TVXQ, BoA, Kangta, Zhang Li Yin, and the newest addition to the family, Tasty.

After becoming the first Asian artists to perform at New York’s prestigious Madison Square Garden, SMTown has made history once again, as this time it was the first time for non-Chinese artists to perform at the Beijing National Stadium. Also known as the Bird’s Nest, it was created for the Beijing Olympics held in 2008 and has since been used for highly exclusive large-scale events. Now, the singers of SMTown have become the first international artists to have held their concert at the largest stadium in China.

OMG   SM finally making up for all those years of shoddy security.

That, or taking over China. It really could be either.

So SM's still ignoring or conveniently forgetting that Super Junior has already performed at Bird's Nest in 2009  :wth:

I think what media outlets are reporting is that this was the first concert exclusively held by korean artists at Bird's Nest.

The first large-scale concert at Bird's Nest ever was Jackie Chan's "Descendants of the Dragon: Jackie Chan and Friends" in 2009 with chinese artists like Jonathan Lee, Alan Tam, Hacken Lee, Joey Yung, Emil Chau, Zhang Li Yin, the chinese orchestra and various asian guests performing like Rain, Super Junior and more.
