Are the amount of likes and re-tweets BTS gets on twitter a true testament of their popularity?

their group personal twitter account: https://twitter.com/BTS_twt

as we all know, social media follower numbers aren't truly an 100% sure fire way of telling much because there are always spam accounts, inactive accounts ect. but looking at BTS' twitter account, on average they get 90,000 likes and 40,000 re-tweets per post. this is an amazing average, especially when twitter accounts from big name stars with more followers have similar, lower, or only slightly higher averages.

so is this a way of telling their trendiness or the amount of dedicated fans they have? does this even say anything tbh? i'm not big on twitter so i don't really know much about the site in general, but i definitely think this is saying something.

i'd also like to know the other popular idols on twitter. discuss.

I saw a picture with v from music bank twitter get 21k retweets and one with an exo member got less than 10k retweets.

we all know exo is more popular than them so i guess their fanbase must be REALLY active on twitter.

probably because the members themself use it so often.

BTS has a HUGE ifandom so it does reflect it well :dave:

Only delulus at this point would deny that

are they more popular than exo internationally?

A tweet of them just saying "?????????????" has thousands of retweets. Honestly, ARMY seem to adore every little thing they post and say and do.

It's crazy to look back at tweets from like 2013 and compare. They really blew up since then. They even responded to fans back then, but now it's a lot to filter through.

exo is way more popular in the asian international community, like in chna and japan ect, but BTS is probably very close to them, maybe even equal or slightly higher in the western international community, like europe and US. there's really no a full proof way of calculating this though.

And for sure, they love to express their love on every random youtube video lol

it's really amazing how some of their tweets from the previous years didnt even usually reach 5k rt/likes (2013-2014) and now as soon as they tweet something it almost automatically gets around 20k in less than an hour, i think their fandom is just really active on social media, seeing as they too are active on both their twitter and youtube accounts

this just says they do have a huge international fanbase, but not necessarily the largest

Well, yes. It seems that ARMY are a very excited bunch, as active on social media platforms (YT, Twitter) as their biases are.

Some of their biases strike as try hard but its not just the case with them, lots of younger groups seems like they would do a lot just to gain attention.

Nothing against BTS, but to be honest its annoying to watch a damn history documentary video and see a comment about Suga.

No, EXO pretty much conquers Asia, but BTS seem to have a bigger fanbase in NA. EXO definitely tops in international fandom, I mean Thailand is the one that watches their videos the most.

.  Different strokes for different folks though. Some people like hyperactive groups, some don't. BTS has to work hard to gain that attention, as they have some disadvantages to overcome, so whatever works, hey, cool.

Anyway, about those comments, I don't know how to make you feel better about that. But that's another thing that's been beaten to death, I don't want to stray too far off topic and derail, particularly if the OP was really just interested in Twitter specifically.

BTS has a huge i-fandom and they're active on all forms of social media. It's really not surprising and they are growing in popularity. However, as you said, there are groups who are more popular then they are but their fans aren't as active. I remember someone on YT said that BTS and EXO are on the same level of popularity just because Armies are everywhere on YT. Well to be fair, Armies are everywhere and it's really not that much of a surprise when they have a huge amount of i-fans. But then we know that EXO is way more popular bcoz we're knowledgeable of the difference in sales, etc. In other words, I guess you can say that BTS has a huge i-fandom based on their twitter and maybe you can take that as evidence that they are trending atm

Their fanbase seems very SNS-based.

According to YT :

https://www.youtube.com/yt/artists/insights-artist.html?artist=%2Fm%2F0h_dkd6&name=EXO

https://www.youtube.com/yt/artists/insights-artist.html?artist=%2Fm%2F0w68qx3&name=Bangtan%20Boys

This counts everything associated with the artist btw, including lyric vids, covers and I think even variety shows/interviews/appearances.

Exo gets more views from the US/West. Their Int-fandom just seems smaller because the Asian ones are comparatively HUGE.

well that proves my point that bts is very close to them in western popularity, so thanks. TBH, i think a lot of EXO's views can be accounted to the fact that man of their vids have gone kind of viral. So they get a lot of people who aren't fans, like me, watching. good for them.
