Is SM doing too much?

They've got a dozen apps with two dozen social media accounts and they have solo albums coming out plus the Station digital release thing and NCT coming soon, not to mention those Agit concerts that accompany the solo albums, idk how they manage it all when just two years ago they couldn't even backup an MV properly.

it's a huge company with lots of employees. it's not like one person is doing it all, it's not even like one person is overseeing it all. all these people are doing stuff and someone else's job it just to give it a yay or nay....and was that a shot at "boxed" mvs? that complaint wasn't even valid then.

When will YG,he's too busy collecting toys :imstupid:  they are a productive company that doesn't waste their potential and see were the money flows and they are actually doing stuff rather than bum around doing who knows what..More like some others are doing way too little...

If wikipedia is legit that they have over 1000 employees, I think it's not too much, it's just maybe they have to work harder for these new projects. Beside SM isn't the only one who manage their business, eg for concert they have a subsidiary (Dream Maker) who organized the whole things. For solo albums, the idols themselves collecting the songs, composed it themselves, or the team helped them to collect it. It's not like they just suddenly made the album, they collected it for a year, or even years. And I heard they listened to > 10000 demos/year (cmiiw) so it's not that hard to pick some songs between them.

I think they were lazy cause even with "little" works that they did back then they still slayed, but the market is oversaturated now, they should do something if they want to hold their top position.

its because SM's profits are continuously growing which makes it easier to manage a growing number of releases per year

heck decades from now SM will probably be like Universal and all those other major global labels that have wayyyyyyyy too many artists for anyone to care

There're opinions that they are straining their existing capacities, but it will be ok as long as the foundation - the idol business - remains successful.

Music Station is probably to increase their presence in digital market. Those apps are an attempt to interact with consumers in a new way/squeeze more money out of them. Solo albums to keep senior idols satisfied so they stay in SM/attract fans in a different ways. And NCT is a group without fixed members, since all their idols find a way to leave once they become famous.

SM is basically throwing up bunch of projects, hoping that maybe something sticks.  But they've always been doing bunch of crazy stuff, which is the reason why they are #1.
