Justin Bieber admits ‘Man, I did some dumb sh-t when I was younger’

After a rowdy few years full of landmark missteps, mop buckets, and a misplaced monkey, Justin Bieber is ready to reintroduce himself. GQ writer Caity Weaver spent time with Bieber in New York City and at his Beverly Hills suite, where they candidly discussed a range of topics including his relationship with model Hailey Baldwin (“Someone I really love. We spend a lot of time together.â€), his faith, and finally growing up. The 21-year-old singer also cleared up any misconceptions about his hit single, “Sorry,†an infectious banger many assumed was a personal apology for all his transgressions. “People ran with that,†he says. “—that I was like, apologizing with that song and stuff. It really had nothing to do with that . . . It was about a girl.â€

In fact, Bieber’s public-apology tour was less about forgiveness and more about acknowledging past mistakes. “Everyone when they start growing up realizes, ‘Man, I did some dumb sh-t when I was younger,’†he says. “It’s not just me . . . If I could go back I wouldn’t really change much. I think it’s all my journey. That stuff made me who I am.â€

“I just had to figure out what kind of man I wanted to be. I have awesome people in my corner,†he said. “I’m human I’m still going to make mistakes. I think that’s what’s cool about this growth is people can see it. I’ve made a transition and been consistent.â€

Are you happy now that he admits he did dumb shit, or are people gonna give him shtick for it his whole life

:derp:

This is so true though, everyone does embarrassing things that you weren't conscious of when you were young, Bieber was just in the spotlight at the time hence being ultimately exposed. I'm sure every one of us did at least one offensive thing without knowing it was offensive when we were young, and that's okay when you realize after, and don't do it again, lol.

He makes incredible music and I think that's one of the main things that people should focus on because Purpose is actually a great body of work, you see more hate than praise, one would've thought that people would have gotten over something to appreciate another but apparently not.

no reason to leave a concert people paid a lot of money for? he could've stepped away from them?

If they were touching him inappropriately, without his permission and making him feel uncontroable.

No one should be subjected to that.

I would be more pissed at the people that were doing that to him. Even if he is a dude or a star, there should be boundaries.

I still think he's a little douchey, but with his fame and the gross comments he received when he was still very young (all the Justin Bieber is a girl!!! jokes), it's understandable.

Purpose is such a mediocre album though... plus it's not like his participation in the music-making process is huge either, and he's not even a good, or even decent, singer either.

Eh I guess that's your opinion. I thought it was a great album overall, and I like his voice.
