I cant think of a chinese drama which has good cgi tbh. The cg doesn't look all that bad if u compare other chinese dramas.

I know but this was a Guo Jing Ping project so maybe I set my hopes up high since I read an article about him wanting to do hi tech filming stuff.

 

I've read the novel too and the costumes disappoint me. The tone also seems a bit too bright? The tone of the novel was very dark/sinister.

This is a drama ver not movie ver. Guo Jing Ming had nothing to do with this project but approving the rights to be filmed into a 60 ep TV series. He only makes movies he said and felt pressure to pull it off on film since he has no experience filming fantasy movies.

 

We'll see Guo Jing Ming's tech in L.O.R.D soon

Yes Chinese dramas have atrocious CGs. I thought this would break the mold.

The thing about Chinese CGI is that it's either really good or really sub-par. As with anything in China, money talks and you can get good CGI if you pay up. Unfortunately that's where many producers cut corners since they don't feel that it's "worth it."

 

Then again, this series doesn't have Game of Thrones budget either even though it's pegged as a higher budget project.
