Kpop Idols with a Hermes Birkin

Hermes is a really high end brand and I know their products are expensive but recently I found out that a Birkin (a type of Hermes handbag) can cost between $12000 to $200000

:omg:

I've seen Jessica with several Birkin's

Black one

Tan coloured one

Tiffany has a white one

T-ara Boram with a bed Birkin

Boa with a Blue bag

Anyone else with one?

I swear I've seen bags like this for $40.

Same.

W/brands you are paying for the name. Because most have workshops with clandestine handwork, and materials don't cost that much, yes there are expensive ones, (idols get most of these for free, for promoting the brand) but most of all people are paying for the name and the average design (I've seen a few -some in pictures other in the stores- that have an authentic and detailed design, the rest it's just mehh).

Its about the brand. They´re selling a certain image and lifestyle, basically something like "look how rich/successful and classy/sophisitcated I am" so of course people with a lot of money will buy it. I dont even find the bags beautiful but luxury brands know how to market even their most basic products.

the birkin has been around as a symbol of pretentiousness for a long time now.  I remember first hearing about them when I was in high school (I graduated in '03, so that was awhile ago).

edited to add that I just remembered something - there was a waiting list to get one, and not like 3-6 months more like a few years. some of those bags may be used.  not that there's anything wrong with that, just I don't know what the wait list is like now and how that relates to how long they have been making that kind of money.

why would you spent so much on a bag so basic

as basic as the person who named it tho

It's because it's an extremely high quality bag handmade with exclusive materials and takes quite a long time to make. It's incredibly high demand and only a limited number are made each year.

I think boram's is fake because she can't afford that

eh T-ara has some wealthy fans + their korean fandom was huge pre scandal+ they are pocketing china money as we speak. Also even if they were under a shitty (although BIG) company I really cannot believe that they werent earning big money in their prime.

well as everyone says those bags only sell that high because of their brand.

don't mind him ....buying knock offs are illegal in Korea...and if a Celebrity wears is he would certainly be dragged for that forever ...

Come on guys, obviously we aren't gonna be spending that much on a bag. But just because we don't find them to be worth that much money doesn't mean high fashion isn't a huge thing and that nobody should should that much on it. Besides, I'm gonna guess that at least some of these are probably sponsored products, meaning the brand wants these bags to be seen with these idols. Brands are a valuable thing and some people have the will and means to pay for them.
