"The Legend Of Zelda" Wii U's 2016 release window has been confirmed in Nintendo financials following its removal last year. This detail suggests that Link's next adventure may begin in the coming months.

The news comes to Design & Trend via page six of the official Nintendo financial summary released today. It shows the temporary title, "The Legend Of Zelda," as a Wii U product that's predicted to ship this year.

This discovery is worth reporting because the game had been listed for a TBD release date in Nintendo's two previous financial roundups from 2015. With the year currently displayed, it implies that enough progress has been made that its developers feel confident about hitting the new, albeit vague, target.

Those that follow "The Legend Of Zelda" closely will know that this isn't the first time a 2016 window has been mentioned for the project. That fact was first reported during a Nintendo Direct teaser in November of last year. These updated financials simply add a bit more weight to statements that have already been made.

As for what changes the new report contains, the biggest one is in regard to Shigeru Miyamoto's ambiguous "Project Guard." During the last investors meeting, that game was listed to release in 2015. These days, it has the dreaded TBD initials next to it. It raises lots of questions as to why Nintendo would relist a game that was previously deemed fit to release in such a nebulous way, but our thought is that the prior data was simply a white lie to make investors feel slightly more optimistic about a sloppy holiday season for Nintendo.

It should be no surprise that there's a much deeper commitment to "The Legend Of Zelda" on show, however. After all, 2016 marks the franchise's 30th anniversary in Japan. In order to celebrate the occasion, Nintendo has vowed to reward its fans with "The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD" and the new Wii U entry. Should its release date be delayed again, it would be a huge slight to a community of players that has remained loyal for decades.

To reiterate, this report reaffirms that "The Legend Of Zelda" Wii U is expected to release in 2016.

How do you feel about these updated financials? Will Nintendo meet its projections this time?

I'm less worried about the release date than what Nintendo is actually going to do with this one. They hinted at an open world, but what would that look like in a Zelda game? Would it be like Western open world games or something even simpler than that?

Ever since iphone and android becomes a fashion in 2010, it's what people care about (also because of the campaign slamming on too much tv video games).
