Are you implying it wasn't her decision to get a big tattoo on her stomach? I feel like an agency wouldn't force her to do something like that since it pretty much ruins her stomach. It's just my op

I'm so on the fence about Frozen for separate reasons but Let it Go is a beautiful song and I can't wait to hear Hyo cover it

putting this under a spoiler because I don't want to bring down the atmosphere in the thread lol. It's not that I dislike frozen, it's a cute movie with cute characters and two lead women is refreshing. I'm just kind of getting tired of Disney's hack 'em up attitude with real cultures. I'm still doing research on all of this and I still liked the movie but I'm just on the fence about how I really feel about it

 

 

oh I  think I know what you mean, I have not seen the film myself but just read a bit about the plot and some of the criticism it got. I'm not  a big fan of Disney tbh, mainly for the same reason as you

Hi. I'm not here for introductions, but I like Hyolyn/Hyorin/Whatever we are calling her today. 

I'm not new to OH, or really this thread, but I decided I need to find residence in one of the threads, and I chose Hyolyn's.

So once again: hi.

 

 

This week has been great for Hyolyn (I like this spelling better) vocally.

Like that concert was the 17th? Didn't she do two other shows the 17 (or were the prerecorded and shown on the 17/18?). Regardless she sounded great on them. 

I need everyone to let All I Want... go. Like that is the default Christmas song. It's a great song, but there are many classics that can be covered (I have only seen one Oh Holy Night and one Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas). Anyway the cover itself felt clunky, like they didn't have much time to rehearse (and they probably didn't), but Hyolyn sounded great and that is all that matters in my book. It was cute for what it was, and they gave some nice lil harmonies, so it wasn't terrible. It was nice.

Her OWL performances have been consistently good, sans a few strained high notes. The one major thing (besides the outfits) I think needs to change is that she "rehearses" when and where she sings during the chorus. Like you can basically tell when she doesn't sing, and sometimes she will have the mic up to her mouth, and other times she won't (during the One Way One Way part). It may not distract anyone else, but it is annoying to me. Like she will sing and then fade out but still lip. She does it a lot on the last high note in the chorus (After the sustained ones). Like it just annoys me a bit, nothing major. EIther keep the mic down, or learn how to ad lib a little better. 

Also her IWALY cover was beautiful. There were still some things she could have done better, but overall, that was one of her best performances this year, and her entire career imo.

If this is the shape that her voice is in right now, then I cannot wait for her performance on IS2.

I'm so happy that her voice doesn't sound tired and tI think she's nailed all her 3 latest performances of OWL(the M.countdown one, Show Champion and Open Concert one). I 'm a bit distracted by that too, it would be better if she stuck to just either singing it fully or removing the mic from her mouth. Nevertheless, I LOVED that Whitney cover!!! She surprised me and totally exceeded my expectations with it. I wished she used head voice tho, but the performance was beautiful and there's such a huge difference between the level of skill from when she first covered this song in her rookie days and now. I cannot wait for IS2 either! Hopefully she delivers a great performance vocally.

 

Some of the outfits have bothered me too! Especially when they're basically identical to the back-up dancers. I've liked her latest outfits and hope she NEVER goes back to wearing that ugly outfit from her showcase.

 

Speaking of the dates, the IWALY performance was performed a day after her IS2 if I'm not mistaken.

LOL so tired of AIWFC too It's like this is the song they perform EVERY year, would've liked to see a change for the better. There are lots of great Xmas classics to choose from. I liked Hyo's efforts, but not so much the failed harmonies , they all just didn't go that well together. I think it would've been better if it was just a duo performing.

 

Also, looking forward to her rendition of "Let it Go".

She also had some nice F5's from MTV All About K pop show and something else...I forget. 

I'm mad we won't get the IS2 episode till January. Do not like waiting that long, when it's been reported to be happening.

I thinks she tried for dynamics in IWALY...like a crescendo. Her head voice, or at least a much more flexible falsetto should be her focus now. She can give good high notes now, but she can't rely on them all the time if she wants to be a great vocalist/performer. 

I only like two of the outfits she has worn (the glittery sweater, and the new black shirt-shorts combo), but only one of them actually is different from the rest.

Do you know when Let It Go comes out? Or is that another one we gonna have to wait for?

Oh nice!  Yeah same! I'll be super busy next month with exams and won't be back until end of January  :._.:  It's frustrating to wait for so long, they should just do it like YHY Skechbook does and broadcast it the week after the recording. Nice! Hopefully we'll see progress in the areas she's lacking in soon. 

 

I remember that glittery sweater, I really liked it, the black-shorts combo was nice too, hopefully her outfits will be nice this coming weekend on Music Core and Inkigayo. Another performance of hers will be released on the 23rd I believe with some other male singers and will be shown on Mnet. Not yet sure of what song they'll be covering.

Hmm there's no official release date for  Let It Go , the film is releasing on Januray 16th so I assume the song will be out by then. Ugh another long wait  :._.:

It broke my heart reading that interview :._.: . It seems like the recent criticism really took a tool on her, I like that she's honest about her feelings and can only hope that she finds strength somehow.

 

It was interesting to read about her reasons for becoming a trainee, and that her initial plan wasn't to be a singer but to study music. Hyolyn is such a special gem, hope she doesn't let haters get to her and instead looks at all the good things in her life.

That performance of Silver Bells was cute. Are they doing like a special or something, because I know the guy playing the bass/cello (I can;t tell) sung with Luna from f(x),,,

Anyway is Hyolyn done with her promotions, because...next week is the Gayos (less than a week), unless she about to give us some messy performances that are 85% lipped, she really needs to be resting up.

Also yay to a subbing team. Is that just for Hyolyn or all of Sistar? 

Yes it was for a Christmas special, Luna was there too, there's supposed to be another video with Hyolyn, not sure if she sang in it too but MBC haven't uploaded it yet.

Yes apparently her last stage was at Inkigayo so it looks like she ended her promotions! I hope she's resting up now, Sistar is probably preparing for the Gayos until next week and it looks like Hyo doesn't have any performance schedules before then.

Tank you, i don't like this, I mean I liked that Ailee's song that sound just like Halo and I think she a "good vocalist" nothing especial, she just doesn't get to my heart,but this I think is kind of disrespectful, Hyorin is the sunbae and one of the most popular singers (aside her group) and putting Ailee in the same level just seems wrong for me

 

 

It is, I don't like her for reasons I won't mention here but it is disrespectful, and it's not like Hyolyn has to prove herself as the next generation diva since she's done so already before. I hope she'll be able to bring her A-game for tomorrow and manage to put on a flawless performance.I also hope she managed to get the much needed rest.

Hyolyn and Ailee were not performing against each other, but with each other.

 

 

It was a duel type thing. They had different categories.

Ailee and Hyolyn vs K. Will and some other guy. Ailee and Hyolyn performed Telephone by Lady Gaga and Beyonce...but it wasn't great. They sounded good (were the best so far), but they were lacking in my opinion. Ailee isn't a dancer, and while Hyolyn is a great performer it didn't work well in my opinion. K. Will's duo was better, but Ailee and Hyolyn won. Eh...

 

 

agreed! A very lackluster performance, I think K.Will & Huh Gak should have won too. I wish they sang another song, Hyolyn wasn't even trying lol still she did well especially with the English pronunciation

Second these performances were eh. Sistar's performance was one of the better ones of the night, they sounded good enough, and their *remix* was nice, sans those cheap outfits. 

Is KBS the one that no one really cares about? Because it looked...small.

:smile:  I wasn't too fond of the remix, it was too slow for my liking but they did well, LOL those horrid outfits, especially Bora's. Sistar needs better stylists tbh.

 

haha yeah I think so, SBS is supposed to be the biggest one if I'm not mistaken and it'll be streamed tomorrow at 8:45 KST.

Loved reading that Hyolyn interview! It seems like she's eager to get back to work but girl needs to rest. Also, the group will most likely not comeback until Dasom's finished with her drama. I believe it ends in April or May. I'm pretty sure we'll get maybe a Sistar19 comeback before then,I'm hoping Hyolyn goes back to IS2 after getting some rest,

she sounds VERY tired, I think this was recorded way before her IS2 and Open concert performances when her schedule was packed and she was attending music shows as well as group festivals. It was only broadcast today.

 

 

also the IS2 preview which will be broadcast on the 4th of January, sooner than we thought! yay!! (sadly I won't be able to watch it until end of this month but going by the preview Hyolyn sounded great and her performance looks awesome)

I'm tired of Starship pushing the Beyonce image on her, she recently said that she feels sorry towards Beyonce for constantly being compared to her.It's clear she wants to be her own person but oh well.Nevertheless, I am excited to see the cover. I can already see them rehashing the performance she did for their first concert last year (which was a mock up of one of Beyonce's tbh). Still the possible midbelts are going to be good.

Her performance at the Gayos have been nice, and I loved One Way Love rock remix (although it was way too short of a performace in my opinion). I finally warmed up to Telephone (Still don't think they should have won, but whatever)

lol my thoughts exactly! The arrangement sounds similar to Demi's version. They did say it was going to be in the end credits so Idina's Korean version was probably sung by the same person that is dubbing. I really liked Hyo's the M/V is beautiful,she looks and sounds beautiful. Edited by PYT
