On the April 15 broadcast of “One Night of TV Entertainment,†the ladies of SISTAR take a break from their advertisement shoot to sit down for an interview with Han Hee Jun.

 

Han Hee Jun comes bearing gifts for each of the members, kohlrabi for Soyu, cat feed for Hyorin, cooking utensils for Bora, and tanning oil for Dasom.Upon receiving the gift, Dasom shares, “I am considering changing things up and meeting fans with tan skin.â€

 

Hyorin chimes in, “But we always were against [Dasom getting tan]. It’s not at all because we think she’ll get prettier or anything like that but because [she has] this pale complexion and innocent image that guys like.†

 

so aka nothing problematic. She's basically saying pale skin is preferred over tan skin in Korea. I respect her for not succumbing to the pressure of the Korean beauty standard by bleaching her skin. Also, gotta love those antis who keep saying Hyorin bashes Dasom's pale skin, they always have to find lame reasons with no receipts to hate on her.

so I was watching this talk2 fancam and I think at 9:41minutes, Hyolyn says that she doesn't have plans yet for a solo comeback? Anyone speak Korean here who can confirm/deny this?

yeah that's true, a friend confirmed it on twitter. Idk why she said that, maybe Starship won't let her cb this year?Or maybe she's trying to pull a Bey? jkjk

it seems like the rest of this first half of the year is Sistar and Sistar's China advancements. I would not mind a fall comeback for Hyo but anything from November on would just be so frustrating because of last time. It seems that money is a big factor, it reminds me of Yenny/Hatfelt, when she had to promise to pay back JYPE for the expenses on her Me? album. 

Yeah I don't want a November solo again, it's too close to the end of year award shows and she'll not have enough time to chart. I'm ok with August as latest.  It makes sense that she had to pay a portion for her solo debut because her solo was far from basic: she got 2 MVs(not even Sistar have gotten this), 1 MV shot in the UK, great album packaging(the photobook was stunning), 1 program by Mnet for her solo debut (only one after Lee Hyori and Rain to get this), 2 showcases(1 for the press and 1 for the fans), a full length album, some creative control etc. so it does make sense that she had to pay a portion and it probably worked  as a good investment for her since her solo debut was successful and she sold +10k albums & did really good digitally.

 

I feel like you pay for the control you get. Do you know if Yenny/Hatfelt paid for all of it or just a portion? She did have a lot of artistic control over her solo.

why does Hyorin only have 80k followers on instagram when Som and Bora are already past 100k -_-

 

Hyorin currently has +93k followers and there's still tons of people that don't know she has an IG. Dasom has had her Insta for a longer time(she opened it first). Bora created her IG about 1 week or so after Hyorin made hers. She was getting a lot of followers but it increased massively at a quick speed after Heechul, Hara and Hani followed her,after that she gained around 1.5k more followers than Hyorin. This gap continued until Tiffany put up a picture of Bora on her IG and so it worked like a promo for her and she gained +15k more followers than Hyorin very quickly and her followers speed increased. Hyorin is currently only followed by and following her stylists and Starship label mates. Hope this helps.

from what I understand from Yenny's interviews, she's paying back the cost of production/distribution, aka whatever her album sales didn't cover, to the company. I wouldn't be surprised if Hyolyn had the same arrangement. Thinking back her solo debut started out so, so well, the double promotions (her and Sistar, I mean) was the problem. I really don't want that again.

so Yenny basically paid 100%? That's really sad....

 

I hope Hyorin isn't paying for all of it, she did mention ones that she paid for the photoshoot in London but I can't be too sure, and yeah, I don't want any double promotions either.

wait, Hyolyn paid for her London shoot? I knew that she invested a lot in her solo but I thought it was only figuratively (time, effort, etc).

 

I can't be too sure but I heard it from somewhere. She mentioned she paid for some of it and mentioned the photobook/photoshoot in London.

Hyolyn's genre is R&B and sadly R&B isn't appreciated enough in Korea. I want her solo album to consist of songs she composed, and the title track to be much better than OWL was. No more DQ choreographer, no more Brave sound and no more Duble Sidekick. I would love it if she worked with an international producer and made a song that showcases her vocals well but is also public friendly. 

 

Yeah she only performed the rock version once :/ and I'm still sad we never got a live performance of Falling.
