Yoo Hee Yeol asked, "Between all the idol groups today, it's unique that SISTAR is known as a group. What do you think about the power of entertainment?" to which Bora responded, "Even though music programs catch the attention of the younger audience, the entertainment industry itself appeals to many different age groups." She added, "We developed not just through entertainment but through dramas and MCing, and many other personal activities. Becoming popular also helped a lot."

Regarding the album, Hyorin expressed some worries. "I wanted to challenge ourselves by trying a genre that only a few like, and I was upset that the song I composed eventually got scrapped because it wasn't public-friendly." Dasom continued, "Hyorin's voice is distinct and even though the song was good, we also understood the position of our company that was focused on earning profit."

How are people feeling about the mini-album after a days? I really honestly like it and my only complaint is that it isn't longer and have to switch to listening to something else. I woke up with TMB in my head today. Why are people saying it's "only an OK" album?

It's actually my favorite Sistar album after GITM. I guess people were expecting the usual Brave and Double Sidekick sound. This comeback is one of my faves from them and although I didn't like TMB on the first listen it grew on me on the second and now I love it. It's addictive and fun and the album pretty solid if you ask me.

Okay but they slayed this. Yes to Soyu getting to step up. You can't grow if you are put into the same situations over and over again (singing wise). Hyorin obviously is a killer. And she is giving drama in this performance.

That Bb5 sounds like her, and it had a slight vibrato which makes me think it is a voice.

 

 

YES! Soyou actually resonated her very first note (a C5 at 2:33) So happy about that.

 

Hyorin was so into this duet! I loved everything about it.

Hyo's comment about her song being scrapped because it wasn't public friendly worries me--it makes it seem like Starship wants SISTAR to play it safe each and every time with their albums and comebacks instead of stepping out of their shell and showing something different.

same here. I didn't like how they didn't want to take a risk. :/// and will we ever hear that track? smh public friendly or not, it could have opened  doors for Sistar as a group(if it was a title track). Who knows, maybe people would've actually ended up loving it for it's uniqueness?

 

Maybe they feel like it's too early to be risky?

Maybe the lyrics were a little bit too personal, to be in a sistar album, we don't know. but i give you that they want to much that Sistar song has to be, as they say "public friendly".

I don't think we'll get to hear that track...  I would love to at least see the lyrics to the song. Crying was so good...

I really want to hear it lol if they won't release it officially then Hyorin should drop it as a mixtape lol

 

Also, I'm thinking that maybe we'll see the light of that song in Hyorin's future solo comeback.

It makes me think Starship is putting an emphasis on digital sales and the public because they KNOW that's what keeps SISTAR popular. This was what I was worried about the most--Starship and SISTAR relying too much on the public. If they release something that isn't public friendly, SISTAR will truly "flop" on the charts because they don't have a fanbase to back them up. I can't think of anything that would help increase their fanbase though. They are at the point where they have a lot of antis because they threaten other girl groups & they're also a really easy target to hate. At this point in their career, it's difficult to gather a fanbase.

I don't necessarily think it's too late for them to build up a large fanbase, however, like you said, Starship are not prioritizing what is needed for that to happen. A Sistar TV show would have helped immensely and it would also help if they tried to target other markets as well (such as Brazil since Brazilians buy a lot of albums or at least that's what I've heard and Europe)Hyorin's OST is huge in China, have Sistar do something there and they are big in Indonesia. They should also have different versions of their albums so that it will sell better. It really doesn't seem like Starship are aiming to increase their fanbase which is sad.They haven't even had a damn fanmeeting yet, Maybe that "risky" song would have gone viral or something. Who knows? I mean, post 2010 (or maybe even earlier)it's very difficult for girl groups to gain a large fanbase. I just feel like a TV show would improve Sistar's physical sales. All the girls have lovely personalities and would easily gain more fans provided people could actually see what they are like.

Soyou answered and said that Hyolyn songs aren't just R&B but deep R&B. Then went on to demonstrate by pretending she was listenining/dancing to R&B. YHY asked to hear a small bit (the tonight babe part). She say as she starts to sing ( just 30 seconds), their Director starts holding his head and tells her that's not it. YHY said, the other members must feel it is a waste. Dasom said, "the goal of the company is to make money/profit and Hyolyn songs might not be well liked (by everyone/mass public)."
