By the way, someone wrote this in the SHINee thread... and I have similar sentiments as her.

 

Rookies need attention more than anything to get their name out there and Wolf accomplished that.

If they had released the usual catchy kpop song, people would have liked it more but it wouldn't have had the same impact.

The market is over-saturated and rookies always put out decent music but everyone forgets about them shortly after, Wolf is so terrible and ridiculous instead, that it really can't be forgotten and pretty much every single kpop fan checked them out.

It was negative attention sure, but now koreans actually know their name, the article about them had more than 10k comments and the top comments had like 5000+ upvotes. 

EXO members are pretty much the same age of SHINee, they don't have as much time as SHINee had before the army call, 6-7 years tops, SM made the right choice imo by going for the "shock" route, instead of hoping to gain the public's attention someday.

Now they just need to release decently catchy music and everyone will check them out to see if it's as bad as Wolf, remaining instead positively surprised.

Also the leaks are extremely suspicious and since debut everything about EXO was carfeully planned, so i doubt this is any different.

 

 

(btw i'm only speaking from a marketing point of view, cause musically it's an abomination and i will never want something like this for SHINee lol)

SM knows how to promote their idols.

I didn't like Kai at the beginning to be honest because he was featured in a lot of EXO's teasers.  Nevertheless, he somehow grabbed my heart

Yeah, the photo shoot along with Sehun, LuHan and Taemin, right?  When he had the hair whipped up and swept back like a God   he is utterly gorgeous/cute/sexy/sweet/childish/shy all at once.  I just didn't like SM giving him all the attention and thought he was arrogant- but that idea has vanished<3

 

But Kai is still my #1 because of his personality and dancing, plus he's become so much better live than when they debuted. I'm proud of him 

I think Kai is one of those who could do well after much practices and hard work, which he is doing now without a complaint.  I've downloaded their live performance of 'Growl' and does everyone agree with me that the song suits him?  Or is it just improving in his singing in general?

from what i've seen suho, sehun, and jongdae are the member who seems genuinely taking care of him a lot and treat him nicely. and baekhyun is also nice to him but i think he is nice to them in general so i don't really count him
