Suicide Rates Among College Students USA

Well, yeah. Gotta figure the money it takes to attend, the stress that occurs over getting the grades to keep you in that college you are throwing your money at. you deal with shitty professors and people, then getting ready to get out of college, only to find that you probably won't get the job you want for months, or years.

Yeah trust me post undergrad life sucks... but I didnt expect the US numbers to be so high since we have so much suicide "prevention" makes it feel like its not enough

It's sad, but it happens alot. The stress level of trying to be financially stable but at the same time attend school, keep up your grades, and then work..it's just too much at times. I hope everyone has that one person they can talk to just to vent, and know that after every rainstorm there is a rainbow.  :._.:

In the US from what I know... is most students work, go to school and pay crazy tuition and the grades ... its so much stress for someone under 24

im surprised the amount seem kinda low. i hear a lot about suicide thoughts when I was in Uni, everywhere you look, if you become close to someone you will see that they start to talk about it. I wanted to go to our school's psychologist office but it's always full 3-4 months in advanced.

what's your debate about specifically?

Still lower than Korean suicide rate I bet.

Oh yeah but not by as much as you think tho.... its pretty high in Korea but last time I did research on this (20 mins ago) Korea is #2 they use to be #1 and America is in the top 40 and the highest ranking English speaking country.

Well I need to get this approval from the "jury" class on making suicide prevention a thing on campus nation wide.  Somewhere along those line while the other person is suppose to argue that it could cause more harm then good..

It has to be by Law too ... some college have this but its only a select few and my stance is to make this a thing taught in high schools and like a mandated seminar....

while the other is stating that this is doing harm by forcing others to think about suicide that haven't thought of it before and yada yada ya... I don't know their argument yet but I can bet that's their case.

I'm so worried to go to college...

Take it easy on your self. Trust me. Don't take too many classes and if you need to start small and then go big do it. College can be stressful but as long as you take it easy on yourself its smooth ... but you will have a few bumps

Ugh, hopefully...I'm just mostly worried about paying for it and getting that hellish student debt :^( I hope I can qualify for a gov't job/scholarship so I don't have to worry about that
