Why are K-Agencies letting SME play them?

Let's get one thing straight, SME are ruthless, cold-blooded, fuck-with-us-and-we'll-blacklist-you-from-the-country ass bitches. But they are literally attempting to run a monopoly on the industry, and everyone is just letting them do it. Not only is their roster enormous, but they are very much into the habit of releasing high-numbered groups, splitting them up, and sending them out to promote. They were doing all of this before 2016. Now, they've gone balls to the wall and want to debut a constant rotation of multiple groups at once as well as releasing a large number of consecutive digital releases.

The question is.

What are your faves doing?

SME is setting the bar extremely high. I'm not talking about whether or not they'll succeed, I'm not talking about a "SME >>> JYP" stan argument, I'm talking about pure ambition. Their plans are enormous, and if they even see half of a return on it it'll be remarkable. So why are other companies still playing it safe? Do you think they're intimidated by the possibility of failure? Or do they lack determination? What can your faves' companies do to step their promotional game up?

Prop b/c most companies do not have the resources to carry out such plans nor can they afford to take the risk and fail.

Sans YG (they have the money and influence but not so sure about organization and manpower) and CJ I don't think there is a company that can match SM in this regard.

You'd be surprised to learn how far SM's reach goes outside of Kpop (ofc not anywhere near that of CJ).

SM has the money and power to make big plans like this. However they also have the habit of changing their big plans once things get started and they see what is working vs what is not. So I fully expect this plan to adapt and change with time.

Other company's don't have the luxury of being able to do the same.

I do think YG as a company isn't that big, a lot of their income is coming from other businesses other than music.

Overall YG is just much more branched out and versatile in all sortd of business rather than SM.

How can people legitimately call SM a monopoly in k-entertainment when CJ E&M exists......

Most people don't know that the big 3 themselves fear companies like Cj and Loen. That's why they formed a partnership to try and stop them. Read Ktmusic

Greedy and arrogant. We'll see how it goes but it might backfire. Seems like everyone but SM stans will get annoyed by this after a while. Every fucking week?

I think even the Big Bang MADE releases that YG did last year started to backfire a little bit towards the end. It will be like SM verses Korea.

this. like the amount of subsidiaries cj e&m have is ridiculous compared to sm. sm is so tiny compared to cj e&m. but because their idols don't do as well all of a sudden sm has a monopoly.... :imstupid:

.......not really tho....... SM owns (or has partnerships) a shit ton of subsidiary companies including a sports management agency, the biggest modeling agency in Korea, there's SM C&C which houses Woolim and also a huge roster of actresses / actors / comedians, they have another indie label Baljunso, restaurants, they own The Celebrity magazine, not to mention the entire SM COEX Artium complex.... etc. etc. etc.

Yep. CJ E&M is an actual, in real life, entertainment monopoly - they are HUGE and mega-powerful

Those are still mainly related to the musical part of SM, AKA, their music industry value. YG on the other hand has expanded much further, mainly into banking partnerships, makeup world, fashion, food and so on. And I'm not talking about they having a deal with but actually owning these brands.

On top of all this I can't even tell you just the household name they are in designing. I know far too many ppl that would give everything to work in their designing department.

I fear CJ E&M more because they sell Korean barbecue sauce in my store and Snowpiercer was pretty good.

Jokes aside, SM pretty much owns Kpop along with other major companies so ask the Korean government if monopoly laws exist

it's not a monopoly, it's an oligopoly

and the barrier to entry for companies is still relatively low so there's not much to worry about
