How could this happen... T-T

I studied SO HARD for a chemistry test and yet... I still failed...

To think that after the test I was pretty confident that I did well enough to pass, while my friend who was so convinced that she had failed because she only studied the night before, actually passed!!! She just texted me what grade I got... I pretended not to see...

I'm so devastated... all that hard work.. it means nothing...

This is so depressing. I don't want to go to school tomorrow. Help.. :((

I wonder what I had done wrong?

Anyone tips on studying chemistry?

Chemistry is tricky, don't feel too discouraged. I'm not sure what methods you use for studying, but try working through lots of problems instead of just reading the textbook or looking at diagrams. It always helps me to put the methods to use again and again in order to remember how to use them on a test.

- Go talk to your teacher and ask what you did wrong, what are the answers, etc.

- Review the test and unit over again to get a better understanding and if you don't then find someone to tutor you because you won't be able to do well on the next unit if you don't understand the previous

- Don't freak out? Understand your mistakes, understand that you need to do better next time, feel upset but move on and don't let the disappointment for this test impact you on your next test.

This was me during my first year of uni. I feel you.

I'm not sure what kind of studying methods do you use but studying with other people and watching chem videos helped me a lot. In case you've got to read, don't focus on memorizing the whole text, focus on linking small words of a paragraph or line together. Transcribing texts also helps a lot. But overall, don't feel discouraged, I'm sure you'll do great next time.

* Khan Academy videos are really helpful.

that kinda ironic studying chemistry right now.

i know that feeling  :._.: just try not to think too much about it~ the whole point of a test is to find out what you struggle with. so now you know which topics you struggle with, go over and revise them properly for your next exam.

also you might wanna try exploring new revising methods, maybe the one you're using currently isn't working for you

Aww, don't feel down heartened! I know how that feels exactly!

I'm doing a degree in chemistry atm and my advice is similar to the others above. Practice questions! Knowing the content is never enough. So you've go to go through questions.  Putting pen to paper is the best solution. Also play on your strengths, for example if you're a visual type of person try and revise using visual elements (like using a model kit or drawing diagrams/mechanisms).

But the main point is don't feel too down! Keep a positive mindset and keep on working hard! Your effort will pay off one day for sure!

This was me in my first semester of university as well, but it was for my first Biology midterm. I don't know enough about Chemistry to specifically give you tips on how to study for that course, but the first thing you need to do is to not let it bring you down too much. It's okay to feel upset, for a period of time, but then, it's important to find out on ways you can improve your studying and tell yourself that you'll do better on the next exam. Also, I think talking to your teacher/professor would be a really good idea too.

I did Chemistry at GCSE (we had to take triple science) and I remember going to after school sessions, doing all the past papers, going to study support, everything for about 3 months before my exams. When I sat them, I ended up with A* in both Physics and Biology, but a D in Chemistry. Sometimes things just don't click. :( Don't be down, OP!
