There's a scandal going on in the Youtube World right now, links here and here

Anyways, these people are losing subscribers at a RAPID pace but it's mostly from active users who are clicking on the Unsubscribe button. What about the possibly 5 million or more who are inactive?

Should Youtube PURGE inactive accounts? I'm sure these inactive accounts take up bandwidth anyways so it's a win-win to clean up Youtube a bit. I'm talking about Youtube emailing accounts that haven't logged in 2 or 3 years! Maybe 5 email warnings followed with a deletion.

I'm sure all the 1 million + subscriber accounts would RIOT because that would mean a HIGH chance of their subscriber count dipping below the 1 million line. Someone who has maybe 3 million subscribes averages 500 thousand views per videos. Where's the other 2.5 million people at?

What do you guys think? Smart decision or just leave it be?

UPDATE: Inactive Youtube Accounts WITH Videos wouldn't be deleted. Only Youtube Accounts that have NO Videos because no content would be deleted in the process.

Smart decision for YouTube but bad for people who make a living making YouTube videos

Why? We're talking about deleting inactive accounts. Youtubers only make money through sponsors/merchandise discount codes/partnerships/views + ad viewing and or clicking

The inactive YT Accounts don't really bring anything to the table except the eye popping subscriber count.

If they don't have any videos uploaded I don't see why not.

Oooo imma update my post! If they have Youtube videos, no matter how crappy, those accounts shouldn't be deleted!

I kinda think all sites should do this. It's annoying that so many usernames are taken by people who haven't had any activity since like 2011. Takes forever to come up with a wordpress name that isn't taken :datass:

I know how you feel! I mean, how is it possible that I can't make a Gmail account with my real name!?!?!? Is that person even ACTIVE?

alot of people commenting too.  sad but funny

They screwed themselves. They tried making it sound so nice and pretty saying anyone can now make "REACT" videos with the same high production quality and share in the experience and how they would "share profits"

In reality, they wanna take over and trademark everything that goes through franchising with them as well as making profits for those videos. It's disgusting because it's not like their idea was ever original. People made react videos long before they did. I'm glad this bashing is occurring and I hope their partnerships with Nickelodeon and TruTV get cut! One of their current employees was talking about how these two are in a sinking ship. If they start to lose sponsors, they'll be in debt rather then profiting and they'll have to layoff people to try and recover.

Not to mention all their new videos are getting more dislikes then likes.
