make a living by doing your passion

many people work in the fields they don't even know at all or they're not really interested in as long as they earn money.

who makes a living by doing what they love the most? and who doesn't and if you could change it, what kind of job would you like to to pursue then? if you didn't  really care about much money and just wanted to live your life to the fullest by doing your passion while still earning money. it applies too for those who haven't worked yet. edit : or worked in the fields you're really interested in.

most people don't love their jobs, they only work to earn money. who makes a living by doing what they love the most? and who doesn't and if you could change it, what kind of job would you like to to pursue then? if you didn't care about money and just wanted to live your life to the fullest by doing your passion. it applies too for those who haven't worked yet.

mine : be a professional dancer. sadly, mom doesn't really approve and the environment doesn't really support this kind of job. basically art isn't really respectable. i'd still like to pursue it after i hit 25.

I somehow want to be one too. Dancing back in college was the best thing that happened to me. I was so happy doing something I was really passionate about... but idk... but certainly can't get that much money from it.

I feel you. Wanted to be an artist growing up, parents told me time after time no. So I gave up

my mom wants me to work as a civil servant  lol she's not against my passion, she knows i wont never stop doing it, but she's always with her opinion that dancing wont make much money, well i do care about money but  im not talking about having so much money like bill gates. enough money is enough. i just want to feel happier for the rest of my life. HAHA.

Maybe I'm different from everyone else, but I don't want my passion to become my job.  I don't want to turn something I love into a routine I must do everyday, or 5 out 7 days of the week.

this

i work weekends in a stable, but i don't think i want to work with horses full time for the rest of my life. i'd rather keep it as a hobby and have a job where i make enough money to afford a horse.

i actually have earned money from dancing several times, considering im still an amateur dancer. i know people who earned money a lot from being pro dancers. of course they've been dancing for more than 5 years as pros.

It'd be nice to love your job.

I guess another way to look at things would be that you're working to fund and continue what you love doing.

Sure money isn't everything but I imagine it can probably get pretty darn stressful having to struggle to make ends meet.

actually i'm not stressed at all. my jobs now aren't tiring at all. i kinda like them, but if had to choose, i would work as a pro dancer, because it doesn't feel like a job or a routine to me. it's a common thing for me to do everyday and im barely bored of it. but dancers should spent much time to practice everyday which is impossible for me to be a double jobber.

Work is work. There is no one who goes in and says "wow I am having a great time" most days, especially after working years of whatever profession. Hopefully, you can find a job with meaning and let you be satisfied that you are helping out in some way.

Dancing may seem great, but imagine dancing for 40+ hours a week. Would that be enjoyable? Of course not. There will be many days when you'll not want to dance or you'll find dancing uninteresting, but you still have to go anyway for money. And if you struggle with finances, not that rare among professional dancers, you'll find that money that you didn't care too much about before will start to consume your life.

I don't think you should stop dancing, but keep it as a hobby, not as a job.... or career if you're that ambitious.

i've been through those days when i didn't want to dance many times and always ended up go back to it again. i do understand what you're saying. . it's just a job preference. i'd like to pursue a career in broadcasting as well and that kind of job which i can earn pretty much money and im really interested in. the key here is just doing what you love the most as a job because many people work in the fields they don't even know at all or they're not really interested in as long as they earn money, while im now working in the fields im interested in.

laaawl, why is the thread all about me ?

I'm passionate about design and work as a designer but admittedly I often deal with frustrating clients lol.

I wouldn't say I'm completely happy just yet as they are some bigger ventures I hope to expand into soon.

There are a couple other kinds of work though I feel I would be just as happy with.
