Avex release web game "Tohoshinki Timeless ~Journey to the Future~" for Japanese fanclub, Bigeast

Another enlistment surprise for fans along with the monthly Golden Missions; Avex has now released a cute browser-based game for members of TVXQ's Japanese fanclub to play.

The game is called æ±æ–¹ç¥žèµ· Timeless ～未æ¥ã¸ã®æ—…ç«‹ã¡ï½ž (Tohoshinki Timeless ~Journey to the Future~)

From the Bigeast newsletter:

• The game is available to play from January 31st, 15:00 (so now, basically lol)
• You need a Bigeast member number and password to login with and play.
• The game is free, but there are some purchasable in-game items.
• The game is only available in Japanese as it's intended solely for Japanese fans, so don't expect any other languages
• The official Facebook and Twitter accounts are now active along with the game itself and will be providing further information.

The newsletter also asks players not to share images, audio or portions of the game on blogs or SNS or action will be taken. Therefore I can't share any pics here, but as I'm playing it right now I can give you a rundown of what it's like.

Once you login with your Bigeast number and password, you're asked to provide a last name and first name - this will be the name of the heroine of the game (Avex just assumes you're a female fan haha, well in this case they are right...). You can change the name later if you want.

The game menu comes up and gives you My Page, Shop, Bag, Menu and Support options (so I get the impression that wth ths Bigeast login there may be ranking competitions and such in future... just a hunch...). There's also an appearance from the recently-introduced Bigeast fanclub bear mascot, who kind of acts as your cute menu guide.

After this, you're placed in the gameplay and taken to the ending of a Tohoshinki concert - red ocean and all - and Yunho and Changmin are closing after the encore with lots of "We are T~" and "We've been Tohoshinki~" ... If you've ever played a character-based game like Ace Attorney or a dating sim, you'll be more than familiar with this type of gameplay. Both of them pop up with various expression stills (Changmi looks so pissed off with me, what did I do...) and their dialogue is written underneath. Of course since this is a Japanese game you have to tolerate the awkward stuck-in-the-early-2000s stylng J-pop artsts suffer from so prepare to enjoy a LOT of that.

After each scene you're taken back to the menu (with the cute bear!) so you can have a breather before moving to the next one. It also gives you an opportunity to pause for a bit so you don't get stuck playing the entire game for hours.

You then get to design a doll avatar of your own character, which I wasn't really expecting so I'm pleased with that since I'm a sucker for avatar design. You can choose hair, eyebrows, eyes, and mouth. You only get a few basic options (long, medium, short hair, small/arched brows, big/small eyes, thin/plump lips) initially but I have a feeling you get to acquire more items for your doll as you go along in the game. You get a basic shirt-and-pants outfit too. You can also get a random doll if you can't be bothered choosing for yourself lol.

If anyone here has ever played Poupéegirl (RIP...) then the doll looks a lot like that, but a bit simpler. You know, big heads and lithe bodies.

Anyway I just made my doll self and have already bumped into Changmin in a hotel elevator... gtg... if anyone else is playing this game hmu...

I'm still playing rn and here's some more:

 

the game takes place in Tokyo, as you play the tutorial scenes the map comes up with different locations, so you can probably move around later (your avatar appears next to the place you're at, it's all very sparkly and cutesy)

 

besides dialogue scenes, there are also intermittent "skill mission" games, such as playing a Chopin piece on a piano (a button-tap game) which are kinda awkward in a web browser game, but since I've just started I'll probably get used to it lol

you can join from overseas so long as you have a Japanese address to mail to. so if you have a Japanese friend who doesn't mind forwarding mail for you... otherwise, you can use a shopping service like Celga (who are very used to handling overseas Bigeast memberships)

I'm sorry, I really want to screencap it too, but the newsletter asked us not to post images of it online :( all of the photos of Yunho and Changmin in it are brand new and exclusive to the game, so I'm guessing that's why.
