I'm in a similar boat here; since I really like Tatsuro and Mariya's music, it's not at all surprising that I like this a lot as well (it helps that I don't feel that music ever really becomes dated, but that's another conversation entirely). The funk mixed with the noir-esque touches work well here though, and synchronize nicely with a lot of the notable Tatsuro footprints. I think we're missing a middle verse based on the translation of the lyrics I've seen, since there appears to be a part of the story that's missing. I can't stand Ai Wo Sakebe. The B-sides were way better. Japonism was okay, but I prefer their other albums We are actually debating about the song in the Arashi thread. I personally don't think this is the full song (the 3 min version). The part where Jun sings after the "I miss you" part seems like it would come after the climax of the song. Most of the complain on Sakura is on it's PV because they find it really boring but yeah I saw some comments that the song is something that they've already heard from other Johnny's groups and they don't find Sakura that interesting anymore. But it's probably the song that was much more talked about because of the PV and choreography. It was even featured in Music Station weeks ago for it's dance steps. lol ew.
