BIO & INFO

Originally chorus group named Ko Spellers (åã‚¹ãƒšãƒ©ãƒ¼ã‚º) was formed in 2001 with the members Nagi,Mi-Mi and Meg. These members of the group were childhood friends from elementary school.  In 2003, they decided to expand the group into a 4 member group, Nanaka was then admitted while the band changed its name to "BRIGHT". All members were also students of Osaka's Caless Vocal and Dance school. On April 25, 2007, the band debuted from Rhythm Republic, Avex Group's indies label. At the average age of 17, their success got so big that they were transferred to the Avex major label Rhythm Zone. On January 16, 2008, the band released their first major label mini-album. On April 18,2013, BRIGHT's official blog announced a final performance for May 12, and their disbandment afterwards. Each member would part on their on ways and explore new talent.

UPDATES

* NAKAKA'S SOLO SINGLE "HONEY BOY"! *

Recently Nanaka uploaded a preview of a song on her vine she has been working on. The title track is "Honey Boy", the for the track were written by Nanaka herself. Below is a performance of the song.

*DISBANDMENT INFO*

On April 17, 2013, it was suddenly announced through the group's blog that BRIGHT would disband after their One Man Live concerts in May. The last date that they are to perform is the 12th May in Tokyo. After their last performance, the group has said that they would part ways. This may have been due to the group's declining popularity as they struggled to gain popularity since their debut.

NAGI, NANAKA, MI-MI, and MEG have all left messages to their fans in their blog, shocking them all because, despite the group usually failed to chart, their activities never ceased and they kept releasing new material till last year. However, the release of their BEST Album could have been a sign that, perhaps, their record label intended to cancel their contract or that might expire soon this year, especially since that became their last release. But even with that, BRIGHT kept performing One Man Lives and being active both in their blog and twitter so the announcement came as something unexpected and so it seems by the messages the girls have left on their blog:

NAGI

"We are really sorry for the sudden announcement" NAGI, the leader, says on her message, before explaining how they've been active for 10 years, ever since elementary school, practicing every day to the extent the other members, despite of not being friends or family, became special to her.

NANAKA

"To the people who've always supported us, I am really sorry for the sudden announcement" NANAKA begins her message with similar words as NAGI, and then thanks the fans and the members for being able to sing all this time. NANAKA starred last year in the musical DREAM HIGH along with Matsushita Yuya and her group-mate MI-MI. She was the last member to join the group but the one who got pushed to the front the most, not to mention that their last singles had her as a main and almost solo-lead vocalist, which could hint to a possible solo career in a near future.

MI-MI

"The members will continue their new paths, we won't stop" says MI-MI, but it's hard to tell if all the girls will pursue a career in the music industry as this all looks like both, their management and their label weren't giving them too many options, despite of what MEG says "Like NAGI has told you, we decided to disband as BRIGHT. That's what we decided" but there are too many groups that have reached a dead end like this to believe they just woke up with the idea on their heads to suddenly call it a day, the situation kind of reminds us of LOVE, the LDH vocal duo that also saw their releases decreasing and instead of renewing their record-deal, they were suddenly disbanded.

MEG

MEG also comments on how soon they met and became a group that spent their time singing together, as something really natural, which makes hard to believe this decision wasn't forced by their current situation as an act who hasn't crossed over the niche market they're in. "That's why it was hard to believe it would end someday". © arama

So whats going to happen..

Where do they plan on going now?

Is Nanaka gonna do musicals and stuff..

Well according to what they wrote on their blog they disbanded cause they wanted to grow and explore things individually. At the moment they are having final concert dates for their Bright Live Tour 2013~Brightest Days~. Most of them are sold out, in fact they added an extra day cause of it. The final day is on May 12 in Tokyo. I'm pretty sure Nanaka will remain relevant with music/musicals but its the other girls that worry me because their are not that popular. Like even in the Dream High musical Mi-Mi was in it but the company only mentioned Nanaka <_< Not that I don't like Nanaka cause I do but....that push was too much.

I sure hope they keep us updated in what they'll do next :)

Definitely. They are so good live...what bugs me the most is that I discovered them not too long ago and now they disband. I've being listening to most of their songs lately so it is so bittersweet :( They had so much potential!

glad that there's still a thread for them....even though.... :(

Course Mich, we gotta keep' em alive. Besides will have their amazing songs with us. And I'm sure they'll do something related to the entertainment industry, they're still young I mean Nanaka is just 20.....(wow...I just realized we're the same age)

^Definitely Nagi her voice<3

I love kotoba too;;

I think You Were Mine is their prettiest song

Nice tastes you got there :D I like Nagi's voice its so rich compared to other Japanese singers. How long have you been a Bright fan?
