A showing of the film "13 Hours" in Renton, Wash., was violently interrupted when a moviegoer shot a woman. Police say the man, 29, later admitted he accidentally discharged his weapon. (Reuters)

Dane Gallion was so worried about public shootings that police say he committed one.

Last Thursday, Gallion popped a Xanax, ate a pizza and downed a 22-ounce beer. Then the 29-year-old headed to an evening showing of “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi†in the Seattle suburb of Renton, Wash.

But not without his handgun.

Despite a Regal Cinema prohibition against firearms, Gallion sneaked his piece into the theater. He was, he later told police, “concerned about recent mass shootings in public places.†So concerned, in fact, that he kept his gun unholstered and tucked into his waistband, according to the Seattle Times.

Fifteen minutes into the movie, Gallion’s gun somehow went off, police say, striking the woman sitting in front of him. Gallion quickly ghosted out of the theater, allegedly discarding his gun’s magazine in a trash can on the way out. It was only when his retired Air Force colonel father learned of the shooting 90 minutes later and called 911 that Gallion finally turned himself in, according to the Times.

Gallion was arrested and charged with third-degree assault. His attorney, David Allen, told the Times that the shooting was “a terrible accident†and that there was “no intent involved.â€

Doubts remain about how the shooting occurred, because of inconsistent statements Gallion gave to police. [he appeared to be intoxicated]
[...]
After the gunshot, Gallion quickly left the theater because he didn’t want to be mistaken for a mass shooter :imstupid: , he later told police.

“He dumped the magazine of the gun in the trash can in the theater,†Onishi told the Times. “He was upset and he wanted to talk to family.â€
[...]

“From having talked to him, it seems he didn’t have any intent to shoot anybody,†Onishi told KOMO News.

Gallion appeared in court on Saturday. He posted $25,000 bail and was released on bond. The father of two has one prior conviction for driving under the influence, KOMO News reported.

Until further notice, Gallion is not allowed to have a firearm.

The 40 year old victim remains at Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.

the fact that this guy didn't "turn himself in" until his father called 911  :imstupid:  good thing the victim is okay

Here's another recent accidental shooting, there have been sooo many lately (it's quite sad tbh):
Crossville, Tennessee (Jan. 25th): 7-Year-Old Accidentally Shot and Killed by Another Child Inside Car
The boy, who was left inside a car Monday with three other children, was found bleeding and later died at the hospital, police said. The child who shot the victim found the gun inside a purse.

He should go to jail no questions asked.

If that woman was dead, there would be an outcry and I am so happy she survived. Can you imagine just enjoying a movie theater and DYING because of someone "accidentally" shooting you? No, not please about it? Neither should anyone else be.

He deserves no sympathy. A Xanax and a beer? Unbelievable.

I know I'm overreacting but this just pisses me off and his actions alone just intensify that anger because he could have at least helped her or something. Maybe then his "accident" would be classified as an accident with no charges.

"I'm so concerned about my safety at public places with all the mass shootings and all.."

....

"Ya know what sounds like a great idea, having a beer and a Xanax while having the gun in my possession at a movie theater. That's not dangerous or irresponsible in the least!"

You seem like the butt hurt one here..

I don't even know who this comment is intended for, but it's sooo fucking ignorant. Not surprising though, given that you seem like a troll.

No one's acting like this shit only happens in America, it's just an occurrence that's more common here (yes, I live in America and not Europe :imstupid: ) than in other countries.

That's pretty much why people say things like "'murica" or "America's logic...". Incidents like these just happen so often in the U.S., without much, if any, change in gun control laws. Get off your high horse and stop acting like America is better than the rest of the world tbh

Murican....

There need to be like stricter filters with longer mandatory classes on handling guns and guns safety when giving these idiots a gun so they don't accidentally shoot other people.

and throw the bitch in jail for running out of there smh
