Azealia Banks releases visuals for ATM Jam!

Is she a legit rapper? With a serious career? I always think she's just making parody videos :derp:

She's a legit rapper who doesn't seem to take her career seriously so no one else does either. If she would just stay out of the twitter beefs, she'd probably already have an album or at least more exposure. I like her music, I love ATM Jams, 212, Licorice, etc. but all the damn drama is annoying.

Azealia Banks has released creative, unique, and confident material throughout her respective career especially with the release of 1991 and Fantasea. 1991, Van Vogue, Luxury, Liquorice, and Yung Rapunxel were chic, stylish, and creative visuals that found Azealia Banks pushing herself in terms of her aesthetic and style. It's understandable that ATM Jam, 212, and Atlantis would be considered a bit weaker without the context and understanding of the visual cues and scenes that they represent and showcase. Banks is a talented and confident rapper that has a flexible flow and word play that we haven't seen from rapper in quite sometime. She's a breathe of fresh air in the scene. She's delivered solid, refreshing, and consistent material throughout her career and she'll further solidify herself with the release of Broke With Expensive Taste and Fantasea II: The Second Wave. Banks has always been serious about her career and the further development of her craft. She's a bit troublesome and problematic on twitter but that hasn't stopped other acts in the past.

the song is so good, the music video kinda sucks...her decline is sad..really thought she would be huge

the thing is... she would never be "huge" ... and if she and her people are smart....they know this. She knows it at least.

She can't get US radio play do to strict censorship laws, and her beyond explicit lyrics and themes ... ntm .... stylistically, there has never been a niche for artists that sound like she does, and are as genre-conceptual as she is, in the mainstream....

People don't seem to understand how much the industry has changed. You don't have to be charting and winning things to be making major money and have a strong, large following anymore.

Some of the best and arguably "biggest" new acts the past few years, have come up through social media.... the internet music community. Even the ones who manage to break out to radio, are still most successful and exposed on the internet. Their fans might not buy albums (although many do, especially after the artists have released so much free material), but they are a free source of promotion, mostly in the form of nonsensically rabid fandoms....and they WILL pay to see the artist live.... which is where the money is at... and where the success lies. Azzy played pretty much every major festival this year.... because promoters know she'll have turnout... her lack of album release, her lack of sales #'s, her lack of accolade is made irrelevant.

I know that....but even among that fanbase her big ass homophobic politically incorrect other artist bashing mouth has eroded much of her support

last year I loooooooooooooved her, this year I would never spend a dime to see her live or support her music

she is vile and her antics on tour like cancelling last minute and or walking off stage means that after the last drop of her internet hype is gone no1 is going to invite to any festivals and she will fade away quite quickly

this is probably the truth...but time will tell.

None of the less savoury aspects of her persona, are exclusive to her. Much of it is perpetrated by plenty of other acts, and it does little to hurt their image or support.

A lot of Banks' music has always been laced with "homophobia" ... if that's how one wants to view it.... so, while I don't champion her behaviour.... I do have to call people out for loving it "hidden" within some her lyrics, but hating it when she's calling someone out, outright.

Really, the one gripe about Banks that I can agree is really shitty, is her performing antics... her diva walk outs and cancellations to hang out in cities and shoot the shit is quite annoying. I wouldn't pay to see her headline either... because she's so unpredictable.

Ughh, when I saw her a few months ago and she came on stage at like 1:30 AM and was done by 1:45 AM...
