SNH48 Fei Qinyuan receives growing attention for her Mayuyu-like looks

Fei Qinyuan (14) is a 5th generation SNH48 member and currently a part of Team XII.

 

Recently, a photo of her on SNH48's currently airing show 国民美少女 garnered attention on the Japanese web for her cute looks. Some people have also compared her to early-era Mayuyu since she was wearing Mayuyu's signature hairstyle.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In the latest third episode of 国民美少女, she was given a special shout-out and had the opportunity to give a personal response to all this new attention. (23:58):

 

 

MC: After hearing about this news, how do you feel?

 

Qinyuan: First of all, thank you very much for all the support you have given me. I feel very honoured to receive all this support, so thank you everyone. I think Watanabe Mayu senpai is an extremely outstanding and great figure. I definitely have many areas where I can improve. I hope that in the days to come, I'll continue to do my best and work on my weaknesses so that I won't disappoint everyone's expectations for me.

Poor baby looked uncomfortable being put on the spot like that. It reminded me of how Kiku still looks dismayed whenever MCs single her out during group appearances and introduce her as 4000 years.

 

I think they both feel conflicted that they're getting extra attention, and both of them tried to move the attention to their group instead and took the opportunity to ask for more support for SNH48 as a whole.

I personally don't see it, but yes there's been a few others who have compared her to certain K-pop visuals as well.

There's more than a few members of SNH who have been compared in looks to other idols in J-Pop and K-Pop. Considering the groups more or less all look for similar traits, it shouldn't be too surprising.

Well kpop is really famous in China, and of course there will be no surprises if some of the singer copy kpop idol style. Not in bad way.

You're right, the styling is copied a lot. But in terms of face, China has diversity. It's easy to find Chinese who look similar to beautiful Korean and Japanese girls. TOO easy. Can't easily say the same for the other ways around.
