Why Many Korean and Japanese Students Can't Speak English

Well. They use english as an academic assessment and thats it. They dont use it in their everyday lives thus they will tend to forget what they learned at the end of the day.

Compared to Philippines, I was astounded when I first came here. I already got an idea that their second language here is English.

But then when I came here for my residency, I was amazed that everything and everyone speaks in english, understands english.

From the smallest things you will find it written in english.

And when I came here, I heard that Filipinos teach their kids English language as soon as early as possible. There are also parents that taught their child english language first in priority then the filipino language after that.

So here in the Philippines, if you cant understand english you might as well be confused and im 100% sure that you wont understand all the Paper or forms given to you here. Even though from simple thing like receipts/ delivery forms / brochures up to complex and official forms to medical forms and government forms. Everything is written in english.

Compared to Japan and Korea, they dont use it regularly that is what the problem is.

because it's hard ?

My Korean friend says is that there are not many English speaking people around to practice English.

I maintain my Italian, and Korean abilities by conversating with native speakers, that's how languages are learned, and re-enforced.

However because there are not many Koreans around me, my Korean hasn't become fluent or better ; i'm stuck in intermediate.
