Guys, chinese name are hard to pronouced

Since there are 4 tones, not easy to speak

I can pronounce them fine since my first language is another tonal language (Vietnamese). I think tonal languages are easy to pronounce if your first language is a tonal one.

I don't understand how Cheng = ì„±  because Cheng is pronounced "chung", so it should be ì •.

not if you speak another tonal language. If you speak another tonal language (like Vietnamese), Chinese names are easy to pronounce. Also, it's only Mandarin that has 4 tones. Cantonese has 6 tones.

Cantonese has 9 tones

I am from HK,so I know it

But the "9 tones" thing has been redefined. This person is also Cantonese and speaks HK Cantonese, and they explained why it's 6 tones instead of 9, because "checked tones" aren't considered tones anymore by linguists.

My language, Vietnamese, was also once thought to have 8 tones, but there are actually only 6 tones, because the checked tones aren't actually tones.

When I was in my secondary school(high school),teachers taught me about 9 tones

But who cares,i think the pronounciation of the chinese name should have mentioned the tones of mandarin in order to let people easily get in touch with that language
