'No Breathing' Is On Course To Outdo 'Secretly Greatly'

Upcoming South Korean movie ‘No Breathing’ which is led by 2 of the most popular actors at the moment in Lee Jong Suk and Seo In Guk will be screening at cinemas later this month. With its fierce promotional tactics and explosive reaction from fans, it can be said that the hype for it is definitely on par with ‘Secretly Greatly’ which drew over 7 million admissions earlier this year. So all eyes will be on ‘No Breathing’ on whether it can surpass ‘Secretly Greatly’.

 

 

‘No Breathing’ is the first to incorporate swimming as the main theme in the history of South Korean cinema. The movie revolves around 2 national team swimmers who harbours dreams of breaking the world record in the pool. The numerous teasers that had been released simultaneously in the past weeks, have already invoked an explosive reaction from fans.

‘Secretly Greatly’ garnered much popularity as it was led by 3 popular actors in Kim Soo Hyun, Park Ki Woong, and Lee Hyun Woo. With ‘No Breathing’ going along a similar route with Lee Jong Suk and Seo In Guk, how can fans not look forward to seeing it in cinemas?

 

The teaser for ‘Secretly Greatly’ surpassed 630,000 views in just a day, and set a new record in the history of South Korean cinema. But the teaser for ‘No Breathing’ has not only smashed the record with ease, but also achieved 1,100,000 views in a mere 2 days, and thus expected to do extremely well at the box office when it opens for screening at cinemas later this month.

 

The similarities between the 2 doesn’t just end there. ‘No Breathing’ even created web version comics to placate fans that had waited a long time, and drew many netizens to leave comments. The comics paid meticulous attention to details, and the mole under the eye of the male lead was drew exactly as it was, and was close to 100% similarity. ‘Secretly Greatly’ also left many fans satisfied for its similarities between its leading cast members with the webtoon characters.

It remains to be seen whether ‘No Breathing’ can surpass ‘Secretly Greatly’ at the box office in terms of admissions, and fans need not wait too long as the movie will open on October 30th.

I only hope No Breathing is a good movie. Because it doesn't make sense to market it based on the two good looking actors alone and then the movie sucks.

1,100,000 view from the teaser is atleast 300k view from LJS&SIG fan & 800k from sone. Yet they didnt include Yuri name?

The writer of No Breathing is the same as As One movie writer (table tennis movie with Ha Ji Won and Bae Doo Na, Lee Jong Suk too lol). As One is a pretty good movie so I expect this to be at least decent too. I hope so.

Ah~for a moment i really did think that it was a tread for the webtoon "no breathing".thought it only has 2 chapter yet,the character was 1 is genius n another genious that has no motivation toward swimming for some reason.the other 2 character is hilarious lol.ome is only interest in showing off his body n one is not great at swimming.

the 2 main character fall in love with the same girl and bam~ the love story and competition begin .

I don't want to be pessimist or whatever but even though No Breathing has got hot and popular actors in their casts and that they smashed the record of views for the teaser, I really don't think they would be able to beat Secretly, Greatly.

First of all, the latter was adapter from a very popular webtoon so obviously, fans from that webtoon went to check the movie.

Second, it starred Kim Soo Hyun who thanks to his latest success such as Moon That Embraces the Sun and The Thieves became a super top star, even a A-list actor so with that, the sucess of the movie was obvious.

For No Breathing, I do know that Seo In Guk was in Master's Sun which was a hit drama and Lee Jong Suk with School 2013 and I hear Your Voice but really, even if I hope that the movie will be daebak, I don't see the point to compare hit with Secretly Greatly even if they share some similitarities because their genres are different and SG was really really anticipated in South Korea but yeah, let's cross our fingers and see how it goes in box office when it is released.
