CarlosA 1,935
FYI Oriental Day (Taiwan) said new President-elect helped to un-ban Tzuyu in China during private 3-way talks (USA is middleman) to maintain cross-strait ties. Since then, Beijing allowed Twice MVs to re-air & claimed no JYP boycott. Up to AnhuiTV to decide Twice's CNY segment. The source only says "there has been info circulating that there is a POSSIBILITY for the new president to help Tzuyu." and that the president has discussed how to approach this with her people. (correct me if i'm wrong) but Taiwan (media) really should stop. like NOW. stop bringing Tzuyu's name everywhere for your 'impure' motives! Tzuyu has her REAL fans, friends, and family to worry about her, and also parents to decide what's best for her. And her parents have decide to let the issue die down and start anew. MusicL 1,007
That makes no sense. Didn't Twice get aired again before the election result? How did the new president do that without being selected? Besides, according Huffington Post, the KTM cabinet still govern until April. The inauguration ceremony hasn't been held yet, so the new selected president hasn't been official president. The current President of Taiwan is still the old guy. Though western media did report representative Taiwanese office did contact Chinese government to control cnetz, that's why Sina came in and deleted the posts regarding to Tzuyu. Tzuyu's apology was posted on Jan 15 in the US. Taiwan elections were Jan 16 Taiwan time. 15 here is 16 there so they overlapped There might have been some complaints lodged by the ROC government but CCP pulled the ban and aired Twice in the same timeframe as they started to pull off Weibo and other state-controlled social media in China. And it was AFTER the APOLOGY. In fact like just a few hours (less than 12 hours) most observers in Taiwan and in the US are saying it was global outrage and China being embarrassed about looking so small when ppl saw the CCP forcing a 16 year old making a ISIS hostage but I think the CCP's intention was to stop the bullying once it got that video coz the pulled the plug on the protests and revoked the bans almost immediately after they got what they want the world reaction and ppl laughing at China only made the situation more embarrassing but IMO CCP intent was to pull the ban after they forced the apology and the Taiwanese ppl saw it. now obviously Taiwanese media and politicians want to take credit and both ROC and PRC governments want to blame JYP but in reality it was probably JYP who resolved the situation AND took responsibility (which NEITHER the idiots in the CCP and KMT or DPP are mature enough to do)

CCP was quiet before the video then right after the video, they released an article protection Tzuyu so you're right they were aware of it and wanted to go that way to scare Taiwanese voters but it got back fired. One of the 50 cent party's objectives is to play down the existence of Taiwan and now Taiwan issue became a hot topic.
fairweathermoviefan 1,104
US government aka Obama isn't going to get involve in Tzuyu. US newspapers outrage does not equal US government sentiments. Taiwan is not even close to a hot topic in the US. Iran deal and prisoner swap was a bigger deal.
