Do you always write stuff down when you study?

Or do you sometimes just read and re-read and hope it stays in your brain? I'm asking because I'm studying up and I really don't want to write stuff down. I'm also asking because I needed an excuse to procrastinate.

here's a gif I found while procrastinating

edit: Just tonight I wrote about 30 or so pages and I'm wondering if I'll even read this over. Mnemonic devices such as word association always helped me the most. I just want my right hand back.

I rarely write down stuff, I rather listen and pay attention to that. I memorize well enough if I understand what is being talked about. Also I get pretty lazy to re-read my notes and I may sometimes not understand what they are about.

I write down as much as possible in the lectures and stuff, and then when it comes to studying for exams etc. I highlight all the things I want to remember (I have a photographic memory so using different colours etc. really helps), read over them and then write out everything I can remember, and keep repeating this process. Coming up with acronyms to help remember everything is also a key part of it :)

I will never catch up to what my lecturers are actually preaching about (mostly because the class is either 8am or 4pm) so I just copy of all the notes they dish out and re-read them at my dorm while doing some questions so I can understand how to apply it.
