Does your best friend influence you when it comes to your love interest?

Personally I don't really care when my best friend says stuff like "you could do much better than him" or "he is not attractive". I mean it's my choice who I am falling for afterall.

But I know this one boy who is basically listening to everything his friend is saying.

He broke up and cut ties with quite a few girls (yes including me) because his best friend (boy) was saying bad stuff and made him change his opinion.

So that's why I'm asking

They don't influence me to the point of breaking up with the boy if I don't want to, but sometimes their opinions is needed because we can be blind in love so that's good if people around you can wake you up if necessary. So yeah I talk with my close friends, and I don't just take all their advices, only the ones which I agree with. It's good to have true friends who can give you some tips/advices, but don't be the kind of people who just blindly follow what they are told. The last decision is yours.

sorry for my english ^^

They can say stuff, but at the end of the day, I know their opinions shouldn't matter more than mine, it is my love life, not theirs. I try to do the same to them, and respect their choice of partners, as long as they treat them with respect and love, it is none of my business to judge who they fall for.

depends. most of my best friends are guys (they've been my best friends for 15 years) so I usually take their advices seriously or really listen to their opinions about the guy that I like i.e. when they say that he's douche and such or have a bad feeling about him a.k.a my taste sucks (which is mostly right after looking back lmao) idk i guess guys understand other guys better?? hahaha like if a woman has that sixth sense thing for most situations, i guess guys also have a douchebag radar thing going on for other men? idk? probably?? lol but hey that's just me

but in your case, the whole "guy is saying bad things about the girls in his best friend's life resulting to best friends cutting off ties with these girls" situation can be summarized in one expression: wth??

Well I'm dating someone for a reason right?

Sure there could be some speculations "oh that guy is player" and that happened to me and I did get hurt, but doesn't mean

any other guy I date is gonna be a player too you know? It does depend on the situation and I wouldn't try to break my friend's relationship up just because I'm not fond of him. But if does something shady I would feel like I should say something but not directly you know? (because I wouldn't wanna do harm)

A friend of mine was dating this guy and her friend basically filled up the guy's head with nonsense and broke up with her and it's like..

what the hell? you wouldn't wanna date that dick jerk anyways if his mind could be easily swayed you know?

:imstupid:

Hmm not now, but it sort of did matter long time ago. She liked my boyfriend first and had a huge crush on him for so long, so it did matter to me. We only started dating when I was sure she had moved on (in fact, she was our celestine). But no, other than that her opinions have never really influenced mine.

  • 4 weeks later...

I think my judgement of people is extremely accurate, even if someone seems nice to everyone but i think they're a douchebag... 9/10 times they end up being one just as i thought.

Unless a friend has even better intuition than me (which I doubt), I wont listen to them.
