Why do people think that because an Idol produced the song it somehow makes it better?

i dont think ppl necessarily think its better, rather its more like theyre giving respect that the idol took time to produce the song instead of just doing whateever the company gives them even if they dont have to

like arent idols who produce music cool? it kinda shows that theyre challenging themselves to improve their musicality and such and its much more personal than if the company produced it

They just get praised because it means they are all-round talented. Doesn't really matter if it sucks. In an industry where almost no one writes their own shit, anyone who self-composes get praised by the GP.

Because they believe that a true "musical artist" creates their own music and lyrics. Most idols just do whatever their writers or producers tell them to do. And because of that, it makes the song more unoriginal and uncreative in their eyes.

I've personally never seen ppl saying it automatically makes them better? It's mostly people admiring/being proud of/bragging their idols' extent of involvement in their own music, especially if they turn out to be hits.

but the most important is ofc likability and quality imo.

because not everyone can be creative by making some music.

you won't understand unless you can produce some good music and proud of it.

people since BC always think john lenon is much better than justin bieber because john lenon can write their own music, and bieber only can sing and dance.

well everyone has differnet kinds of music that they like so unless nobody at all likes it, the idol should be given at least some words of encouragement bc they probably worked really hard on producing it!!

People still praise folks who have amazing discographies even when they don't make it. It's not an either or kind of thing.

 

And beyonce gets praise for more things than just her discography. She also is known for her fashion, dancing and being the current best singer in pop music.

I'd say it makes them more of a legit musical artist that you can take more seriously. A fan can appreciate that a lot more because it adds a level of authenticity you don't get with the vast majority of idols. What does the average idol do? they learn to sing and act like an idol, the base level stuff. They get taught choreography, learn songs others wrote, carry out the concepts the company makes etc. There are very few soloists and groups who have members that have those skills. I've heard some idols say they want to be looked at as an artist instead of a superficial typical idol..but if they want that credibility they have to go that extra mile and display those artistic abilities.
