siwan 1,297
Why are new and distinct threads important? New threads can introduce fresh opinions. They may give insights previously neglected and ignored. It is impossible for individuals to be able to wholly grasp issues no matter how intelligent/well-read the person is, inasmuch as humans are inherently flawed creatures with limited brain capacities. New threads can demonstrate separate points of view. The internet does not exist as a monolith -- it comprises individuals from varying different cultures, who view issues through different lenses. New threads can allow us to learn and understand different perspectives, instead of basing our understanding on our own limited background experience. New threads can prompt differing strands of discussion. Distinct threads are often created for distinct reasons. There is no one-size-fits-all question which can address every single issue. In order to best come to conclusions/compromises, healthy debate needs to take place on multiple grounds, covering multiple issues, using multiple questions. New threads encourage continued conversation. Continually emerging threads are indicative of the relative importance of an issue, and can prompt individuals to take time to understand issues and partake in intelligent debate. Furthermore, practically speaking, many users may not have access to forums when an issue blows up -- new and distinct threads allow them to be cognizant of the issue (and the severity of an issue) when they log in to access the forum. Merging threads and creating a "masterthread", in my opinion, is more harmful than not. What do you think?
Midna 2,032
I guess? But it's very unorganized if you have multiple threads about one same topic. I rather have a master thread for that TBH.

Joon 8,222
i think the existence of the the bashing thread limits discussion. People can hardly criticize an idol or group without at least one person telling them to go to the bashing thread, despite not actually bashing said idol or group at all (criticism isn't always bashing!) a lot of what is in the bashing thread aren't even bashes these days, people bring up legitimate points that are contained and stifled in a toxic thread and it is a shame that a potentially good talking point is left to rot like that. But it would be nice for all these Tzuyu and JYP threads to be contained to a thread or a sub forum even because they are mostly just saying the same things over and over again. And with the chart positions, I am glad a forum section was created jail for it because I found it silly to create a new thread in the the music forum every time so and so group reached 5, 8, 1, 25 million or whatever YouTube views. Mogwai 15,203
Tbh I low key agree. Also when you merge threads, people will miss content buried/hidden in previous pages since ppl won't wanna read the entire thread especially when it gets to 10+ pages. But some rant threads get really repetitive and basically echo the same things so I think those need to be merged.

Who should judge whether or not a thread is repetitive/echoes previously mentioned things? Do we trust the judgment of moderators/Do we trust them not to abuse their power? I think you're a bit off-topic from what OP was referring to but I agree, I created a thread about Taeyeon, not with the intention of bashing but to have a discussion, and it was closed and I was told to take it to the bashing thread, like... you can't DISCUSS in the bashing thread, that was my whole point of the thread. Little Eight 6,542
1. Who tf uses meta on this forum? 2. Did you get a thread closed or something? This is a long post on something that is quite frankly a bit trival. 3. Noone wants to see the same topics being made over and over again, you bury other threads further down the pages when you keep making threads of the same topic. If your point was that important or meaningful it would be picked up upon in the main thread.
