Colton 47
I wanna start doing this but i kinda want to use all natural products. i'm not opposed to non natural products. my face is mostly acne free with the occasional zit. what i want to combat is the blackheads/hair on my nose. my skin is oily as well. these are the only products that i have ever used:
iususchrist 1,703
i'm not a guy but if you're wanting to target blackheads i'd say to get a good face mask for pores!
Charmy 6,317
Not a guy either, but you might want to try an oil control cleanser and moisturizer. I have dry skin, so I can't give any suggestions :/
Rapmon's Ahjussi Husband 2,299
Well I believe there's natural ingredients better for what you want: to exfoliate try honey and olive oil ( not at the same time, choose one or the other ), to open ur pores try mildly hot water, it's good when you need to shave, to close pores cold water (really cold); if you have oily skin try an absorbent mosturazing with SFP +30 I use this, but i'm +35, I also add a SFP light cream, i recommend Nivea, it's really absorbent and it doesn't show
roomboy 2
no these are bad for ur skin firstly the strips will temporarily remove the Sebaceous Filaments(its usually SF instead of blackheads you have) but they will stretch ur pore so its easier for them to fill up again, secondly that scrubs microballs will microabrasion your skin and make pores bigger as mentioned what u really need is a balancing acid (a BHA) you can find this in stridex without prescription just apply it to the affected area 1/3 times a day to balance the oil production that causes black heads..OCM (with jojoba oil etc) is also good for balancing oil production that causes Sebaceous Filaments but the BHA is necessary i would also recommend a clay mask once a week! North and South 4,680
My brother uses an acne wash and a "male" moisturizer which is basically just a moisturizer with more macho packaging. But hey, as long as he's happy. You need to get rid of excess sebum and then moisturize, otherwise your skin will try and compensate a dry face with even more oil. As for the blackheads, exfoliating 2-3 times a week to get rid of dead skin and promote sloughing off usually helps; my brother uses my St. Ives stuff. There's really no distinction between male and female skincare tbh, everyone wants healthy skin. I wouldn't be too worried about products you use, just make sure they're suited to your needs. Shownu 954
As a male myself I just want to point out that don't limit yourself to "male marketed" skin products. We have the same skin as females and the only difference is scent. Start with a cleanser and a moisturiser. I often use Korean products. Since you have oily skin make sure the moisturiser is watery and not thick and creamy, they usually have "for oily skin types" as a label on the product somewhere. You can move on to a more complex routine if you research the Korean skincare routine.
Aitso 407
I wouldn't use pore strips, personally. Try a chemical cleanser to clear your pores. I can't really give any specific product recommendations since I have acne prone skin and what works for one person may not work for another. If you're worried about oil production try to incorporate a good moisturizer like once or twice a day. In my case my skin gets oily when I don't moisturize as opposed to when I do. Exfoliate sparingly to avoid stripping your skin. Be gentle with your face. to open ur pores try mildly hot water, it's good when you need to shave, to close pores cold water (really cold) This is actually untrue. Your pores do not have the capability to open or close. Hot water is good for shaving because it softens the hair leading to less tugging and irritation. I like to use warm water when washing my face simply because it feels nicer/isn't as irritating and it allows cleansers that lather to do so better. Also I need to add if you're going to use natural things on your skin like honey and various oils, check how comedogenic they are. Their rating on a scale determines how likely they are to cause a breakout.
