The Impact Youtube Could Have On Kpop

Cloud Of Perception

Recommended Posts

Why is it that companies dont utilize youtube to its maximum value, idols dont have the same platform to show their talents like in the past due to the sudden death of idol focused variety shows so the only natural thing to do is take advantage of youtube.  The best free promo they could ask for.

Covers, mixtapes and dance covers could prove to bring in more fans even something like vlogs tbh. Groups like BTS and to a smaller scale The Ark have already proven just how much this could help and even they themselves dont use it to its full potential.  Idol dance teams which could include people from different groups to maximize interest could be great, even idol original choreos for members who want to dabble into making choreographs, song covers to show of vocalists and possible unproven members so their improvements could be better tracked, compositions for unproven idols who have interest in the field.  This could be very beneficial

So why do you think companies dont take advantage of all this

I agree. They could put out their own mini series and interviews, and other stuff for their idols on Youtube.

K-Pop MV Videos are at an alarming rate increasing in views. 2015 MV's are passing pre-2013 MV's in like 2 months in terms of total views.

Exactly the interest seems to be only increasing at least on youtube.  They dont even have to spend a lot of money just get a camera and creativity.

YouToube works with international audiences but from what I'm told, Asian audiences use their own hosting sites so that could be a big reason.

And also, BTS rose not juts because of YT but they're pretty active on social media in general. The Bangtan Bombs are just the icing on the cake. idk about other roups tho

I guess convenience? Most Kpop companies try to establish a home fanbase first, before they tackle the international field. And that results in idols appearing in tons of variety shows and music shows, which the rest of the world do not have for artists/idols. Also, different cultures and different ways on how they go about things.

They don't have a person in the company with a foreign perspective of the situation most like.

Plus Daum and Naver are the most used video-websites in korea, not Youtube, so there may be a lack of knowledge when it comes to Youtube relevancy.

Plus V-App is literally V-logging so that's a step towards that direction. Youtube is being utilized more by some companies like Big hit though which is smart of them

That makes sense but they dont even have to technically upload it on youtube directly they could upload it up on Naver or Daeum and some fans will probably automatically transfer it over to youtube and they dont even need to sub it cause fan subs are really active.

While BTS was really active on social media overall your right their youtube videos were still a really a huge boost to their international fandom.

I understand the cultural and business differences but most Idols are having a harder and harder time standing out nowadays and I still think these types of things would be a help, they dont have to upload a lot but videos here and there once in awhile sound good imo.

Could be an issue with legal rights and what not depending on who sponsors them and getting approval and all that....

I wish more idols use it to talk about the actual music and what it means to them, we already get plenty of fanservice from other shows lol

He was right about being the most public friendly lol

Missing You is probably my favorite track of the album besides Without You. I would definitely like this to be something that happens more often, I would love to hear the idol's opinion on the music and for those that compose what was their inspiration

The song was so well done but its still surprising how well it did compared to the title tracks

Kpop groups should use more social media in general... not only youtube. But they should have a limit if they do it, too much fanservice isn't good all the time.

BTS spoil us so much and it's ridiculous how much content they put out for us in their youtube, twittter and vapp accounts... even when they're on a break it doesn't feel like that because of the 1763424 selfies and pre recorded videos they had. I wish they could slown down a little bit on this tbh because I think it encourages fans to turn into sasaeng's or to be more delulu in some cases.

Yes Asian audiences use a lot of their own video hosting sites a lot especially China does the most in Asia. As for Japan they are using Youtube more since it is getting bigger over their and with in the last 2 years ago they actually had YouTuber gathering events and stuff like America does
