wallpaperdesign 910
Anyone know anything about Jackee.y? Like her age or any other info? I was reading a translated hiphopplaya interview with Fana, and he talked about this special competition for female rappers he did and Jackee.y was the winner. I watched a fancam of her performing with Fana and was wondering if there's more info. I couldn't find a naver profile for her. wallpaperdesign 910
So I didn't see it posted here, but it seems that Ddolbae, a friend of Fana's who helps with the business aspect, has started his own agency called Stone Ship. I think they partnered with VMC, and it has Fana, Jerry.k, Kirin, Deepflow, Psycoban, Wutan, Odee, Don Mills, Nucksal, Sleeq, etc: http://www.stoneship.kr/artists Does anyone remember that diss battle between Jtong and Maslo lol? Whatever happened to Maslo/Soul Connection anyways, the last thing I remember was that he got busted with weed.
wallpaperdesign 910
Recently got into Hi-Lite too.I really liked ... and I'm OK on Hi-Life. I like Okasian, Palo, Evo and Huck P based on Hi-Life and would some more of their stuff to listen to but dunno where to start. Do you guys have any links to Swings' old mixtapes(2007-2009 period)? And recommendations/links to the above artists with their best works in your opinion and based on the stuff I listed(more Hi-Lite, especially a link to their Hi-Life album, and Vasco please, I really like them haha). Paloalto - Chief Life (album)
http://youtu.be/-8u8dYAVwCs?list=PLm1YBEsem5tYhSRKT9Y7n1TOl_6a7dEgI
B-Free X Optical Eyez XL - Nightmare (ft. wallpaperdesign 910
That's a really great interview with E-Sens. I can understand his dislike of Poison reading through it. I love that song, but it hits me hard every time I listen to it so I can only listen to it sparingly, and I don't even have the personal connection to it that he does. I liked this answer especially: Then what is the basis a rapper must have? Basis? I think focusing on yourself comes first. Anybody can copy anybody else. But they call it hip-hop. Same clothes, same story, same dance, they say they hate it. But they don’t know who they are. They just know they are slightly different from others. Wearing a different brand, listening to something other than Orange Caramel. I don’t like kids who rap with that kind of an attitude. Techniques, you can master it if you copy about 10 Korean rappers. Then you gotta find yourself. Since everyone comes from different environments and everyone has different personalities. I'm even more excited for his album after reading the interview. It really feels like Supreme Team disbanding was for the best, which is not how I expected to feel after they first announced it. wallpaperdesign 910
Is there a recording of that radio play for E-sens? Someone must have recorded it, right? :rlytearpls: I liked the new Kim Park Chella a lot. And Forrest Gump from Palo's new ep has been on replay since it came out. Jerry.k's track 다 뻥ì´ì•¼ caused a bit of stir, I think? I could kind of see that happening from the mv and what I understood of the lyrics, but anyone have more details? wallpaperdesign 910
"SIKBOY is an artist that opened for the SAN E and BUMKEY concert held on August 23. This track is a diss towards San E, who allegedly demonstrated poor fan service and intentionally skipped out on the photo/sign session after making rude remarks towards the fans." cr: Hiphopkr That actually makes this funnier. Like San-E getting called out for being a jerk to his fans when people expect the opposite from him because of his image. And the idea that someone would use this as a reason to diss him lol. wallpaperdesign 910
I was slightly hoping for a potential Remapping the Soul comeback from Epik High, but their featuring line-up.... sigh. I know I should hold off judgment, but...? Are they even going to feature any underground MCs, like is that just what they can get? Tiger JK might, he's supposedly coming out with an album soon. Idk, I just wonder sometimes... Just gonna sit here listening to Speaking Trumpet. Gaeko's album might have potential, don't like him personally, but he's still a great MC imo. And Crucial Star will do his sex voice album, and I'll jam.
wallpaperdesign 910
From what I understood (feel free to correct me lol) Epik High 'Shoebox' Featuring: MYK features on 'Shoebox' Taeyang (Track 3 'Rich') TBNY & dynamic duo (Track 5 'Burj Khalifa') Younha (Track 6 'Fighting again') 김종완 of Nell (Track 7 'AMOR FATI') Verbal Jint, Beenzino, Mino, Bobby, BI (track 8 'Born Hater') Jay Park (Track 10 'Life is good') ì¡°ì›ì„ (??? on the vocals) (track 2 '헤픈엔딩' / Title Track) edit: so its Gaeko and Yankie and that myk feature I was hoping for i'm slightly excited Hmm, slightly better than I thought. I assume Born Hater was made for me lol. The features on it all have a common theme, I feel like I can already tell what the point of that track will be. Jay Park is hopefully singing, and it's good to see myk again. I'll keep my expectations low, so maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.
wallpaperdesign 910
Meh, I'm a fan of Epik High's earlier work and have most of their previous albums, and I understand why they went more upbeat, but that doesn't mean I can't be critical of their recent output. I'm a fan of artists that have changed up their sound some, yet I still believed they were as good as ever (i.e. Fana, Kendrick Lamar's recent track). Although I'm sure there are people who had never listened to an Epik High album before criticizing them, I don't think that all of the criticism is coming from sources that are largely ignorant of their previous work. I also think it's possible to be a fan of an artist and not really like part of their body of work, whether it's earlier or later in their careers. I don't think YG forced Epik High to have those idol features, rather they've always liked mainstream appeal (see Love Love Love), which is not really to bash them or anything, since I don't think it's wrong to want that recognition. Plenty of artists do pursue that and still make great music. I believe that Tablo was specifically aiming for Born Hater to be a track full of mainstream rappers confronting claims about why they're popular, and chose those rappers/idols for that reason. (tbh part of their popularity - mainly talking about Verbal Jint & Beenzino here - does come from their looks and educational background, though I think they have both have put out good music before, some of which obviously has popular appeal - Aquaman is catchy af.) Actually to go off on a bit of a tangent, Beenzino = Drake to me. Not necessarily the most skilled MCs, but their niche is good jams, and they do that well. Does anyone else agree with this comparison? Obviously they have their differences, but just their personas and general place they occupy in their respective industries are reminiscent of each other imo. To get back to my original point, even if YG asked them to feature the idols on the track, ultimately I don't think Epik High was particularly against it and might have even welcomed it. wallpaperdesign 910
Shoebox was fine. I liked Lesson 5, Burj Khalifa, & 헤픈엔딩. Album flows pretty well. Redingray was pretty dope, especially Snapper Ending, also really liked Seoul Blues Pt. 3, Oh My God, Shame, and Festival Virgin.
wallpaperdesign 910
Somewhat, I always felt like Crucial Star=Drake. Even though Beenzino is better at rapping and Crucial Star is better at singing. Oh yeah, definitely on the Crucial Star comparison. I actually thought of that too after posting lol. They both have that sensitive ladies man thing going on.
wallpaperdesign 910
Crucial Star's album felt too long... I think the track order would have benefited from some rearranging, the front end dragged too much. Checkout was terribly placed, but I hated that song anyways. I think I started laughing over the course of that track (same with I'm the One, but I still liked that song). Wasn't fond of his attempts at singing in high ranges throughout the album, especially in Checkout. Favorite tracks: Blessing (absolute favorite) Become A Man Pretty Girl (he & lovey make a great combo) Paris I'm the One / Same Boy (like both in a bgm kind of way)
