COSMIC GIRL 319 Posted January 7, 2016 Share Posted January 7, 2016 TWICE was the most successful rookie girl group of 2015 but at first, it didn't seem like they're title track would be a big hit. Like OOH-AAH wasn't originally a huge hit and has only recently begun to climb the charts steadily every week, now with a current peak at #14. It seems like the single is looking to take off more in 2016 than it did in 2015, so much so that their promotion for Like OOH-AAH has recently been extended. I just want to know what you think is the cause of TWICE's success all of a sudden and what gave the song such good longevity thus far. I'm not hating on TWICE by the way! Also, young male soldiers are listening to the songs. There are accounts written on Pann and DC where people are saying that they like the song but many soldiers keep singing it loudly. Right now, specially the period (november-jan) they had no other strong FEMALE group to compite or compare with. TTS is on another level. but GD, Sistar, SNSD as a whole, APink, all of them already did comebacks. The same for RV, and Mamamoo. (witch is known for good digitals). its a combination of things. LaJetée 21,675 Posted January 7, 2016 Share Posted January 7, 2016 y'all keep going on and on about mediaplay but there really hasn't been that much mediaplay about twice outside of jyp releasing articles about some of twices achievements which is standard amount of media play companies do for most of their groups. twice's success is down to the initial fanbase they were able to garner predebut thanks to their show, effective promos, word of mouth and the fact that the girls are charming and magnetic, a group can have all the great promos in the world but if the group doesn't appeal to people in some way no one will pay attention to them. SIXTEEN helped them gain recognition and excitement before their debut. Twice has a nice and stable fandom now because of all of what I mentioned above, so their sales and chart rankings are really stable and consistent as well. They're funny and great entertainers. -Twice girls can play well the cute concept as much they can play the sexy concept. - OOH AHH became a trend btw idols in Korea, in a lot of programs, male idols are asked to dance OOH AHH - since Wonder Girls and Miss A did well since from start, I think Koreans have an eye for any girlgroup JYP debuts.
