Well, they can say all they want. People tend to insist that a certain ship already "sank" in order for their ship to be given more attention and stuff. Well, BaekYeol is BaekYeol and we all know where we're at.

Anyway, yes. Baekhyun is my ultimate bias and I do "ship" him with most of the other members BUT BaekYeol/ChanBaek is different. It will always be different with them. They will always be different and they will always be miles ahead of the other Baek pairings. Like for example, I enjoy BaekSoo and BaekChen's relationships and antics but that's pretty much it. As for BaekYeol, there's this certain unexplainable thing and reason within me that I cannot quite express why they are comfortably sitting on top. Sorry I don't know how to word it but I think you get me, right?

I get so annoyed when people insist that a certain ship has died. But it's okay because we know what baekyeol has, and they're missing out on a great ship. 

I understand what you mean. I enjoy all the other ships to some extent; on a superficial level, but Baekyeol has a deeper meaning to me. Probably because it's not an easy ship, but I ship that requires your attention, time, and detective skills. I blame it on the sexy tension.

Hi guys! Another Baekyeol shipper here. It's good to see the thread being more alive lately! Until now I was actually more active in the gay thread since Baekhyun is my bias and he was and is discussed there pretty often, but I'm actually tired of the attitudes of some people over there. People who never tried to looked deeper into Baekyeol, yet they dis the idea of them having feelings for each other so easily. Or post things such as "Baekhyun doesn't pay attention to Chanyeol anymore", or "Chanyeol only interact with Baekhyun for the sake of cameras". I mean, what a load of bs. Sorry, I had to went a little.

 

Anyway, Baekyeol is the OTP for me, and epitome of soulmates. I'm not a person who is a shipper in general (or I wasn't until Exo), and it took me years to feel like I've finally found something special again. To me, the relationship between Baekyeol although sometimes difficult is so genuine and beautiful. I love how subtle they are, and how they can convey so much by looks and body language alone. That's not so common. Like you've said, thy have undeniable chemistry together.

Yay you came to this thread  . Welcome. Haha, I had to make a post in that thread also when they started to attack Chanyeol. One thing I've realized is that the people who talk bad about them do not really follow them. Here's my post:

I was thinking to let the talk about Chanyeol slide, but I decided to give my take on it also. Chanyeol and also Baekhyun, to some extent, have the most haters in exo so when you stan them you come across such statements of their "fake personalities" often, much often than one would like. I think much of that conversation stems from the fact that many people do not understand them, and also that they have these unrealistic expectations of their idols.

In exo, these two have the most talkative and outgoing personalities among a group of reserved and or introverted people, which makes their personality much more obvious/apparent. They used their boisterous personalities to engage the audience and to make exok much more interesting on camera. Whether it is laughing loudly or talking a lot, it was to keep the group from having awkward silences since no one else was willing to talk. I guess it can annoy some people if they were not interested in these two and only came for other members.

 

What really drove home the talk of their "fake personalities", was the secretnoona posts and post by "saesangs" and or "ex-trainies" who talked about Chan and Baek being "fake". These posts will always talk about how they are not nice and paint them as having malicious intentions. Posts like that initially can influence your opinion of others. and those who were already annoyed with them used it as validation for their dislike. So whenever they laughed or did anything on camera it will be, "oh look at how hard he's laughing, so fake".

 

It comes down to people not understanding their personalities. Chanyeol is the most misunderstood person in kpop(I think that I'm exaggerating). He is sensitive, and unsure, and caring. He just does not like awkward situations, or situations when no one is talking on camera. He laughs exaggeratedly for entertainment purposes, and also really, that's how he laughs. He is such a sensitive individual and does not want to show himself to people. Can you really fault him for wanting to keep some of himself from camera? I don't know how "laughing exaggeratedly" for entertainment purposes makes someone fake.

 

Same for Baekhyun, even those who profess to paying attention to him do not really understand him. They don't see him looking lost and lonely sometimes, and how Chanyeol is sometimes his pillar.

 

It can't really be helped since most people take things at face value and are easily influenced. Just like they have people who dislike them, they have many more who love them.

I'm really happy that people are coming back tot his thread.

You hit home with writing about how they engage the audience. Alongside making the group more entertaining, they help showcase a lightheartedness and accessibility to Exo as a group. They may lead the discussions, but they always let each member have their fair go (sometimes with playful, generally harmless teasing). Sometimes highlighting things about members which were probably unique to the fandom at the time (i.e Baekhyun's choices and reasons for most handsome in Weekly Idol).

 

In the end, even if Baekyeol merely serve as a catalyst for reactions-- all of that footage can be used by fans to better understand all the members (even the quiet ones), particularly in variety. Because realistically, who is actually going to be genuinely happy/comfortable/in their element in such a staged situation that is idol life?

 

Becoming/acting introverted is the most natural reaction to this situation. And yes, this feeling is easily related to by the audience=who may view it as 'genuine'. But I personally appreciate that Baekyeol, along with other louder members actively help break down this barrier--to at least give us fans a glimpse into how Exo's entire group dynamic works. Sure, at times it's exaggerated...but doesn't that come from a place of genuine motivation to please or to make the atmosphere happier/less awkward as you said?

To me, the relationship between Baekyeol although sometimes difficult is so genuine and beautiful. I love how subtle they are, and how they can convey so much by looks and body language alone. That's not so common. Like you've said, thy have undeniable chemistry together.

I get so annoyed when people insist that a certain ship has died. But it's okay because we know what baekyeol has, and they're missing out on a great ship. 

I understand what you mean. I enjoy all the other ships to some extent; on a superficial level, but Baekyeol has a deeper meaning to me. Probably because it's not an easy ship, but I ship that requires your attention, time, and detective skills. I blame it on the sexy tension.

Tumblr is where it's at. I also made a twitter account just for searching tweets with Chanbaek or Baekyeol. That's where I get all of my updates. But there's also some whinny fans always crying about how they miss Baekyeol, like they ever left , and some haters. But nothing you can't handle.

 

Well, it's no fun if there are no haters around. I can handle them and those whiny fans but what pisses me off the most are those know-it-alls. Especially if they are fans of another OTP and are just clearly insecure.

Hi guys! Another Baekyeol shipper here. It's good to see the thread being more alive lately! Until now I was actually more active in the gay thread since Baekhyun is my bias and he was and is discussed there pretty often, but I'm actually tired of the attitudes of some people over there. People who never tried to looked deeper into Baekyeol, yet they dis the idea of them having feelings for each other so easily. Or post things such as "Baekhyun doesn't pay attention to Chanyeol anymore", or "Chanyeol only interact with Baekhyun for the sake of cameras". I mean, what a load of bs. Sorry, I had to went a little.

 

Anyway, Baekyeol is the OTP for me, and epitome of soulmates. I'm not a person who is a shipper in general (or I wasn't until Exo), and it took me years to feel like I've finally found something special again. Chanyeol's mom is really cool and so laid back. She knows that people are shipping her son with his closest friend, yet she's so calm about it. Probably she doesn't understand the extent to which they are shipped, like the smut fanfics and all the jazz. I'm not really surprised at the news because she has chanbaek pictures in her restaurant. I think she even has that iconic baekyeol incident at smtown oh her wall collage. I'll find those pics. She's an interesting woman though.
