After their birthday parties, magazine interviews, and vlives I should be used to them talking about each other all the time even when the other is not even mentioned, but I'm not

There's a bit of a misunderstanding going round because of this tweet. OP posted that she thought Chanyeol replied to M*nseok with "I really like the puppy-type", however, he said "He really hates (the) cat(-type)". Other translations mentioned that he said '좋죠' (something along 'it's good, isn't it?') before commenting about the cat-type. I'll keep this post updated when OP posts the audio recording she took or replies to the message I sent her about it. Nevertheless, I thought it was very cute to share, we all know Baekhyun is the definition of a puppy and even if Chanyeol didn't answer Minseok's question, he didn't deny either [insert side-eye emoji].

You can actually hear Minseok asking "Do you like Baekhyun?" towards the end to which Chanyeol replies with "좋죠" = it's good/nice.isn't it? (at least that's what it says in the tweet) I saw another translator saying that it means "like" in this context (@CmixB)

 

I do not speak Korean so obviously I cannot tell which one is right but from what I have seen/read, the first translation seem to be the correct one? Now the question is, what exactly does Chanyeol refer to with "it's good/nice, isn't it"? My guess is that it could be a reply to Minseok's question, sort of like "Yeah, that (= a character/face like Baekhyun) is nice, isn't it?" or Chanyeol meant something else or, he didn't say "좋죠" after all (because the more I listen to the audio, the more it sounds like something else to me). As I have said though, these are just naive guesses based on the information we have gotten. We'd need someone who actually speaks Korean to properly analyse this, I guess. Either way, I agree with @Helena that the mere fact that Chanyeol even said he liked puppy types is already worth getting a bit crazy over since "puppy" is basically Baekhyun's second name Plus, what was the need to even bring Baekhyun into this, dear Minseok?

 

On another note, I just want to say that I am always amazed at how much these two actually know about about each other - seriously, every single detail. I am especially amused at how often Baekhyun has pointed out Chanyeol's habit of spending lots of money for stuff he is interested in. He keeps bringing it up - obviously not with malicious intentions - and I just find it so adorable because he reminds me so much of a boyfriend/husband keeping track of his partner's finances and sort of "nagging" about it in a cute way   

 

I also really love how openly they can talk about and with each other lately. They seem so much more comfortable, not afraid to sneak in a few gestures and words of affection/appreciation for each other (and basically killing us, I mean "shimkoong" "my heart is beating" come on!) but still maintaining this subtle sweetness that we are used to. They also keep proving just how well they know each other imo - one of the reasons why fanaccounts from "Party People" made me especially excited, cannot wait to watch it!

However, there is little value to my non-native opinion, and I saw both CmixB & Seirenhee (original poster of the translation) confirm that he said it. I trust them and I think it's adorable that Chanyeol quietly agreed to Minseok's question.

While Chanyeol was singing "Creep", Baekhyun shot him this glance. It lasted a few seconds, not more, but it was undeniably intense. Chanyeol really loves the concept of angels and so on... I wonder why 

 

Also, this is just speculation, so I'll put it under spoiler. It basically comes from a conversation I had a few days ago with our lovely admin @HeIena, and I thought it could be interesting to share. 

 

 

 

I found this while scrolling down my twitter dashboard (it's a little old but I never saw it before). This basically is a compilation of a few fake tattoos that Chanyeol got during his EXO career, and someone took the time to analyze them properly.

 

Even if this picture actually blew my mind, I disagree with the first translation (I have a Literature uni degree so I know what I'm saying, or at least I hope, lmao): Lumen, literally meaning light, could actually stand for Sun (it's a figure of speech called metonymy, Latin uses it often because it tends to be very concise), but a more literal and correct translation for this statement could be "the Sun is the only (real) light (for me)". Another plausible one could be "we're all under the same one light (with or without a possible reference to sun)", or even "there's only one source of light for me (in the world)". It's a little hard to guess the exact meaning because the quote is pretty sybilline taken out of a proper context, but you have to admit that it sounds very interesting, especially if you consider that light is Baekhyun's power in EXO.

 

Now, the second one. I can't disagree with the translation, but "save" isn't literal, in my opinion. The meaning of "serva, as, avi, atum, are" is actually closer to "protect", but I'd personally translate it with "keep safe", because it actually holds both concepts. So, the exact meaning of this quote is "if you (really) love me, keep me safe" which is maybe the most romantic and dreamy thing I've ever heard in my life because it sounds both demanding and vulnerable at the same time and so Chanyeol-like omg. Anyway, this quote is from Ovid, "Ars amatoria", which is one of the most famous love books in Latin literature. Also, but this is just a trivia, it was a very popular quote during Victorian and Edoardian age for carvings on wedding rings or love pendants.

 

Lastly, the ever famous "happiness delight". This one is actually a pun, but my dumb mind realized it just recently (I'm such a smartass). "De" literally means "from", so the interpretation might be "happiness from light" (another reference to Baekhyun?). Many ones disagree with this, because they link the meaning of happiness delight to the concept of Chanyeol being the happy virus and so on, but what if the quote was chosen because it actually holds BOTH meanings? We all know that Chanyeol loves this kind of puns and words plays, and that he's always very thoughtful when it comes to words and lyrics. Just my opinion, but I don't think it's a coincidence.

 

So, we have two quotes about light and one about love. And during Kokobop's promotions Chanyeol got again "si me amas serva me" as a temporary tattoo behind his ear (he must really like this quote!).

 

Now, if someone could join my little delulu fest and speculate a little on his new real tattoo, which totally looks like a moon and a sun entwined forming a guitar shape (and basically dealing with light/darkness, besides of music, again), I'd be the happiest girl in the world. Anyway, I'd love to hear your opinion about this!

Alright, so just my two cents on it: I have a feeling Chanyeol was looking at Baekhyun when he was playing this part, because in the first few frames, you can see his face turn to Baekhyun's direction. It's different from when he was looking past him or at the audience as you can see further on in the gif (he is staring in the same direction as S*ho which is obviously not at Baekhyun). Then, the camera cuts to this insane close up on Chanyeol's guitar instead of showing us the entire frame. However, you can see his jaw is turned to the left. Then, when the camera shifts back to showing the members again, there's (I think even less than) a second where you can see both Baekhyun and Chanyeol looking at each other. Just a few frames later you can see Baekhyun looking right over his shoulder with a look on his face (is he checking where the camera is?), while Chanyeol shifts back to looking at the audience. You can definitely see both of them weren't continuously looking at the same thing because they turn their heads at the 'you're just like an angel' part. There's one zoom in on Baekhyun, where he's just smiling and enjoying the song, but when his close up fades into Chanyeol playing the guitar again, you can see him kind of pursing his lips.

 

Just my thoughts: I have a feeling they cut Chanyeol and Baekhyun looking at each other during this part out, among a lot of other things, because it was too obvious. But because it was during his song (which they obviously couldn't cut or take parts out from), they 'edited' it like this and it's almost unnoticable unless you are going to gif it and loop it 749 times. I'm still waiting on the subs but many moments seemed to be left out. The editors probably did it on purpose and only the people in the audience were able to catch those moments when it was being recorded, which is why we know it happened.* I feel like this once more shows how different Chanbaek are in 2017 compared to their rookie days, when 'fanservice' was purposely edited or left in.

He's a songwriter so I don't think it's much of a stretch to assume he chose these quotes carefully. Unless someone else chose them because they sounded pretty and that's it?

 

 "Si me amas, serba me" just became my favorite quote lol gotta use it somewhere! 

I thought his tattoo represented two moons? I'm not sure, there are quite a lot of symbols in it, not to mention it's really abstract, so the interpretation will reflect whoever is interpreting it and not Chanyeol personally. I rewatched the clip tons of times and I think you might actually be right. The editing is definitely suspicious! Also I've noticed that a few moments caught by fans and recorded in various fanaccs are completely missing from the episode aired on TV, like for example this one.

Also, this is just speculation, so I'll put it under spoiler. It basically comes from a conversation I had a few days ago with our lovely admin @HeIena, and I thought it could be interesting to share. 

 

 

 

I found this while scrolling down my twitter dashboard (it's a little old but I never saw it before). This basically is a compilation of a few fake tattoos that Chanyeol got during his EXO career, and someone took the time to analyze them properly.

 

Even if this picture actually blew my mind, I disagree with the first translation (I have a Literature uni degree so I know what I'm saying, or at least I hope, lmao): Lumen, literally meaning light, could actually stand for Sun (it's a figure of speech called metonymy, Latin uses it often because it tends to be very concise), but a more literal and correct translation for this statement could be "the Sun is the only (real) light (for me)". Another plausible one could be "we're all under the same one light (with or without a possible reference to sun)", or even "there's only one source of light for me (in the world)". It's a little hard to guess the exact meaning because the quote is pretty sybilline taken out of a proper context, but you have to admit that it sounds very interesting, especially if you consider that light is Baekhyun's power in EXO.

 

Now, the second one. I can't disagree with the translation, but "save" isn't literal, in my opinion. The meaning of "serva, as, avi, atum, are" is actually closer to "protect", but I'd personally translate it with "keep safe", because it actually holds both concepts. So, the exact meaning of this quote is "if you (really) love me, keep me safe" which is maybe the most romantic and dreamy thing I've ever heard in my life because it sounds both demanding and vulnerable at the same time and so Chanyeol-like omg. Anyway, this quote is from Ovid, "Ars amatoria", which is one of the most famous love books in Latin literature. Also, but this is just a trivia, it was a very popular quote during Victorian and Edoardian age for carvings on wedding rings or love pendants.

 

Lastly, the ever famous "happiness delight". This one is actually a pun, but my dumb mind realized it just recently (I'm such a smartass). "De" literally means "from", so the interpretation might be "happiness from light" (another reference to Baekhyun?). Many ones disagree with this, because they link the meaning of happiness delight to the concept of Chanyeol being the happy virus and so on, but what if the quote was chosen because it actually holds BOTH meanings? We all know that Chanyeol loves this kind of puns and words plays, and that he's always very thoughtful when it comes to words and lyrics. Just my opinion, but I don't think it's a coincidence.

 

So, we have two quotes about light and one about love. And during Kokobop's promotions Chanyeol got again "si me amas serva me" as a temporary tattoo behind his ear (he must really like this quote!).

 

Now, if someone could join my little delulu fest and speculate a little on his new real tattoo, which totally looks like a moon and a sun entwined forming a guitar shape (and basically dealing with light/darkness, besides of music, again), I'd be the happiest girl in the world. Anyway, I'd love to hear your opinion about this!  

 

 

 

Amazing!   To be frank, I had actually seen posts/translations about Chanyeol's fake tatoos and the meaning of 'Happiness Delight' before but it was only brought up again recently. I definitely think that it's one of those aspects that deserve more attention while discussing CB, so thank you very much for bringing it to the thread and also for your proper translations! Admittedly, I am not very good at coming up with interpretation for images/tattoos, therefore there isn't much to add from my side except maybe for what you said about 'Happiness Delight'. It's just that I don't think that he is refering to his happy virus image. There is no doubt that Chanyeol is a cheerful person but I don't think that the happy virus image holds much meaning for him. In fact, there even was a time when he tried to get rid of it, as he stated in his latest interview for the Celebrity Fall (third question):

What I am trying to say is that Chanyeol, to me, seems like he doesn't really ponder about that image much. He isn't really concerned with it which leads me to believe that 'Happiness Delight' does not refer to his happy virus persona. Plus, looking at one of his older (fake) tattoos (Solumn Omnium Lumen), his current, real tattoo that shows both the moon and the sun (= sources of light) and Chanyeol's overall infatuation with light and anything that can be associated with it (stars, brightness, the sky, angels, Baekhyun ​), I am actually almost convinced that 'Happiness Delight' literally means "happiness from light". Chanyeol gains happiness from light or more specifically from someone/something who represents light, the light of his life. Baekhyun.

 

But all jokes aside and without wanting to sound biased: all of this refering to Baekhyun ... it doesn't sound impossible. ... or what do you mean?Am I reaching too much?

Alright, so just my two cents on it: I have a feeling Chanyeol was looking at Baekhyun when he was playing this part, because in the first few frames, you can see his face turn to Baekhyun's direction. It's different from when he was looking past him or at the audience as you can see further on in the gif (he is staring in the same direction as S*ho which is obviously not at Baekhyun). Then, the camera cuts to this insane close up on Chanyeol's guitar instead of showing us the entire frame. However, you can see his jaw is turned to the left. Then, when the camera shifts back to showing the members again, there's (I think even less than) a second where you can see both Baekhyun and Chanyeol looking at each other. Just a few frames later you can see Baekhyun looking right over his shoulder with a look on his face (is he checking where the camera is?), while Chanyeol shifts back to looking at the audience. You can definitely see both of them weren't continuously looking at the same thing because they turn their heads at the 'you're just like an angel' part. There's one zoom in on Baekhyun, where he's just smiling and enjoying the song, but when his close up fades into Chanyeol playing the guitar again, you can see him kind of pursing his lips.

 

Just my thoughts: I have a feeling they cut Chanyeol and Baekhyun looking at each other during this part out, among a lot of other things, because it was too obvious. But because it was during his song (which they obviously couldn't cut or take parts out from), they 'edited' it like this and it's almost unnoticable unless you are going to gif it and loop it 749 times. I'm still waiting on the subs but many moments seemed to be left out. The editors probably did it on purpose and only the people in the audience were able to catch those moments when it was being recorded, which is why we know it happened.* I feel like this once more shows how different Chanbaek are in 2017 compared to their rookie days, when 'fanservice' was purposely edited or left in.

Oh gosh, this! I defnitely noticed those glances but I wasn't aware of the weird editing before you mentioned it. Come to think of it, they really seemed to have cut out many scenes as you and @christallodineve have pointed out already. It's a pity to be honest because there were many moments mentioned in fanaccounts that I would have loved to see in action

 

a small addition to your observations: What really caught my eye aside from their glances was Baekhyun's reaction as soon as he realized that Chanyeol was going to sing "Creep" :

I cannot really describe it but he looked like he was thinking: "Oh, you are going to sing that!" â€‹after initially not recognizing the tune.

 

Note that Chanyeol has been singing this song for a while (If I am not mistaken, his performance at Party People was the fourth time he did it publicly) so I guess it must be one of his absolute favourites, perhaps even a song that holds much meaning to him (?) Another small fun fact: the word "angel" makes an appearance again! 

 

But seriously, the way Baekhyun smiled ... it was so tender and sweet! I cannot get over it

I have some freetime to spare right now and I thought I would use it to make a post on the thread, also because I figured that you might miss ChanBaek as much as I do   A while ago, I made a little observation that I would like to share with you guys. I feel like now is the perfect time since the boys are still resting and there isn't much going on at the moment.

 

It is nothing big at all but hopefully still fluffy enough to give you some feels 

 

You guys do remember Chanyeol's famous sausage+vegetables stir-fry, right?

 

 

 

 

If I remember correctly, Chanyeol cooked this dish twice on television. The first time was on Roommate and the second time was on The Return of Superman, where ​he and Baekhyun fed the twins with it:

 

 

Now onto what I have "observed". Unfortunately, I still haven't figured out how to post my own screenshots on OneHallyu, therefore, I will just put the video down below for you:

 

 

- 59:33 - 59:38: Here, you can see Chanyeol talking to the twins' dad while preparing the ingredients. He tells him that he "made this (dish) often for the members." â€‹and that "they really like it." 

 

​​While he says that (59:38: "They really like it."), you can see that Chanyeol's eyes shift and he is looking at something outside the kitchen/cooking area with a smile on his face.

 

Now the question is: What is he looking at?

 

- 59.09: The kitchen is being filmed from another angle and the camera zooms out a bit. Now you can see that kitchen and living room are kind of connected.

 

That means that, from his position next to the kitchen counter (back to 59:38), Chanyeol would have a perfect view on Baekhyun and  Seo Eon. They are both in his line of sight (unless they moved from their postions in the meantime of course). Thus, I believe that it was them he was looking at.

 

Let's sum up what happened: "I made this (dish) often for the members." *smiles while looking in Baekhyun's direction* "They really like it." 

 

I think so, too Chanyeol!

A year later, during CBX's fansign on 11th November 2016, a fan asked Baekhyun what his favourite snack was and he said: "sausages." 

 

 

So sausages are Baekhyun's favourite snack - interesting!   Coupled with that look Chanyeol gave him on The Return of Superman when he said: "They really like it." , I couldn't help but wonder if this was actually Baekhyun's favourite dish by Chanyeol and if that's why the latter cooks it so often. I can imagine it so well though since the two of them can be so domestic with each othe sometimes  !

What really struck me when I first watched it though, even if in the youtube comments and such people kept rambling about how Chanyeol was lovely and sweet with the babies, was Baekhyun's behaviour, somewhat different but warm and careful nonetheless towards the twins. Idk why but it always messed with my feels, they are so different but they work so well together. 

Also, how adorable is that Chanyeol's cooking skills basically consist in stir-frying everything that he lays his hands upon (TroS, RM, EXO's second box)? Lol idk but it always amused me. I love him, precious giant<3

I love throwbacks~

Nice connection... had to rewatch the episode of TroS because ugh happy daddies domestic feels (I ended up soft and craving sausages and veggies stir-fry, omg lmao). What really struck me when I first watched it though, even if in the youtube comments and such people kept rambling about how Chanyeol was lovely and sweet with the babies, was Baekhyun's behaviour, somewhat different but warm and careful nonetheless towards the twins. Idk why but it always messed with my feels, they are so different but they work so well together.

Also, how adorable is that Chanyeol's cooking skills basically consist in stir-frying everything that he lays his hands upon (TroS, RM, EXO's second box)? Lol idk but it always amused me. I love him, precious giant<3

Agreed! I think they both were amazing with the kids in their own way. As for Baekhyun, it became evident to me that he must have some kind of experience with children because of the way he held and played with them. His behaviour was just incredibly natural and gave me a lot of feels! I assume that it is because Baekhyun is an uncle and I can imagine him interacting with his niece and nephew in the same way he did with the twins Moreover, I have always thought that Baekhyun was actually really gentle and careful despite his loud and cheery nature. If I remember correctly, I think he even once said in an interview that he was very perceptive of people's feelings. He is really a thoughtful person.

 

TROS was just a gift to us imo! Chanyeol and Baekhyun are both amazing with kids <3 I wish there was a part two in which they visit the twins again.
