UNIQ - The kpop group that DIDN'T say the n-word

In the seventeen n-word thread I saw people trying to justify a kpop idol's use of the n word as ignorance and lack of education regarding these types of action because of the culture they grew up in. To be honest, I didn't buy it and I didn't say anything about it because I didn't want to get into long conversations about it.

The members of UNIQ(not just one, all) while rapping along to Drake's hit single "Started From The Bottom" purposely stopped themselves from rapping along with the n-word. Now, it should be noted that they didn't rap other curse words but I think you can tell the young gentleman wearing the cap's grin that they knew that the word they omitted was more meaningful than other curse words.

Whether them being recorded was a factor in them omitting that word, I don't know, if they were alone maybe they would've happily rapped all the words of that song but what I think we can do is end the discussion about idols not knowing or being aware of the meaning such words.

edit: for anyone who didn't see the seventeen video

Just because they didnt say it doesnt mean other idols are all knowledgeable of what the impact and history the word carries.  UNIQ didnt say it thats great maybe their more intone and connected with such things but that doesnt mean that one member of 17 is a racist, he's a different person who has experienced and been exposed to different things.  We dont know him but judging the most likely situation that lead to that was plain ignorance but there is a chance it was more then that but the evidence we have is not strong enough to condemn him, if this was a western artist or someone who grew up in the west I would understand but since he is korean who grew up in korea we cant judge him with that same mindset.  Their should be more of a proactive effort to teach these idols not label them and drag them without even giving them a chance to explain themselves.   He did wrong he really did, but the question should be does he even understand what the fuck he just said and how can he improve himself if he even wants to in the first place

But I didn't say he was racist, simply saying a word doesn't make you racist and I'm not dragging them, I'm trying to make a distinction. You can tell from the airport video with all of them laughing and the members of uniq grinning that they all knew what they were saying or not saying is all I'm trying to point out.

they legit know what they are saying and it is ignorant of people to use they are Asian as an excuse. Because of the way they were smiling and acting, you can tell they know.

that said, I am not a Seventeen fan/stan but I do like a few of their songs and will continue listening to them as a black male. But it is disappointing nonetheless.

Uniq is awesome though!
