so i'm not taking entrance exams until june, and i've been doing some research in terms of comparing and contrasting the act and sat and they both have pros and cons. which one is better to take? i know one isn't easier than the other and it's different for everyone, but what was your experience?

Well if you're taking it in June then the new sat you're taking is really similar to the act....

I can only speak off of the psat I took a couple months ago that's in the new format, and it was pretty much identical to the act. I didn't particularly feel like one was harder than the other.

I took both. I thought I would prefer the SAT because the testing prep center I went to made us take SAT lessons for three consecutive summers and only spent one week the spring break before the test preparing for the ACT. Even though a lot of the tricks we learned might be applicable for both, I also took a lot more SAT practice tests and was much more familiar with the format.. somehow I still ended up doing better on the ACT. Just goes to show that you never know until you try both, I guess.

ACT if you are better with subjects you learned in school, fast, and like straightforwardness.

SAT if you are a good standardized test taker and willing to learn the tricks of the test.

I got score equivalents when I took both so I can't say which was easier but I prefer the ACT.

Edit: Actually, I forgot. The new SAT (starts this March) will be like the ACT too though. So I suggest taking the ACT since there are more prep books out there.
