why do OH users accuse fans of 16-year-olds of pedophilia?

maybe because many tend to like idols that suit their style of a person they'd date and many fans are thirsty as fuck for certain idols. and because they imagine adults [people over 20 or even much older] liking 16 years old

and in certain countries, 16 is not yet a legal age to  be involved in anything sexual

i doubt people think badly of those even younger than 16 that like 16 years old idols

It might not be pedophilia, but depending on how old said user is, it is still gross imo to make sexually explicit comments towards someone that is a minor. Regardless of the country, most 16 year old girls do not have the maturity to be considered an adult...

so if I'm 13 I'm only allowed to like people over 18?

i thought the "adult" part was implied. But I guess it must have been hard for your brain cells to extrapolate. :imstupid:

well but in the countries were it is legal (like most states including korea) why do people always make such a big issue out of it.

well... because in most countries..while age of consent is 15-16 or 13, age of being adult is 18 or 20 [korea]

and there are two sides to it

a yet not adult, despite age of consent, doesn't drink, shouldn't smoke, cannot be entirely legally held responsible

an adult, can drink, smoke. there is a bit of a power disbalance and some people tend to put beliefs they have in their day to day life [ like a 30 year old liking a 16 year old kid is messed up] and put it in almost everything and take the liking of an idol who is 16 as a sign they might like kids in real life as well.

maybe. making sexual jokes or hints of sexual jokes to those not yet adult is rather fishy and the bigger the age difference and bigger the sexual intent, it just turns weird. and if people can do this online, what tells us they don't do the same in real life? it kinda makes you think that person could be the same towards the kids around them in real life too, not just towards an idol.

for some, most, it's unsettling.

maybe some people on OH are just really old (like 30 or something lol). So if they see other people sexualizing someone that is like Tzuyu, they automatically feel disgusted or wtv without taking into consideration the background of the other person. Some people that sexualize Tzuyu may be 16 themselves or even younger so it's not as big of a problem as some OH users perceive it as...

Because everyone assumes the worst in humanity; if you like someone under-aged it must automatically mean that you're sexualizing them or fulfilling some weird oppa/noona fantasy. I'm 21 and I stan Seventeen. They're sweet, make good music and make me laugh. Am I not allowed to buy their albums or support them because we're not the same age? What kind of shit is that?

sounds reasonable...

I mean it's okay if they dislike it but they should stop to use the word "pedophilia" if it is clearly the wrong way to address that.

Like how should actual "victims of pedophilia" (this is the false term but most people see it this way, right would be: victim of child rape) feel, when thing like that are called "pedophilia". (Not to mention pedophilia isn't even a crime, only having sexual relationships with children under the age of consent is)

true. people online use a lot of serious words for things not that serious to the point where they will end up forgetting the real meaning of the word and think casually about it.

maybe those that use the word have a previous experience as such, know someone who did or are simply very grossed out at the idea an user could be an 'uncle' turning a kid into something sexual

p.s while many fans are indeed young, there are a shit load of people over 30 going all "damn, their sexy and all." and online, anyone can pretend to be young when they are in fact creeps. it could be a reaction to knowing this and not knowing for sure if the person going all "man, she is hot..look at her legs.i'd tap her "  or something, is actually the same age at the idol or a creeper online

It depends a lot of how you like them though. If its just admiration and pure like towards them as a fan, then I don't see it as a wrong thing. However, if its sexual then it gets weird for me. Depending on their countries legal age, you may/may not be considered as a Pedophile, but its still pretty messed up especially if you're much much older than them. Of course if you're a teenager yourself, then its not really an issue, but you don't know how old users are (unless they tell you), so people judge according to how they view the idol themselves.

It's not the fans people accuse~ It's the legit pedos making sexual comments about them that people call pedophiles. There's nothing wrong with being a fan of idols younger than you~ But most of the more well know pedos are hardly real fans~ They're just creepy pedos~  :imstupid:

I don't see any real fans of Tzuyu or Yeri saying creepy sexual stuff about them~  :megusta:

There's no issue really if it is a teenager that is 16 or even one year older isn't as bad, but most of the users on here are teenagers and so for what we think could possibly be someone in their early to late 20's (or even older) it can be quite creepy because if they are saying someone close to our age is the kind of person they'd date, it can be quite alarming for a teenager who is around the same age as lets say Yeri, Tzuyu, Jinsol or even male idols like Dino.

Especially when some people go as far as making sexual comments about them, and in that case it isn't just alarming its disgusting and creepy.
