Something I never understood is how Chanyeol doesn't have many stans... He's extremely handsome, great rapper, sexy voice, etc... He has all the characteristics to be popular but for some reason I haven't seen many people say Chanyeol is their #1 bias...

 

 

Chanyeol has managed to push Kyungsoo down to #3 and become my second bias. Like he's so precious yet in real life all of my friends only know Kai or luhan

I've never thought about that before, but you might be right. I've seen people say he's their bias in the group or they like him, but how many like him as their ultimate bias? I'm not going to lie it took a while for even me to admit it but that's because I stan pretty hard to a single person and the previous person had been my ultimate for about 4 years.

I think the majority of fansites for Chanyeol allow foreign fans to join, or at least the major ones. There are only a couple I have seen that require a Korean SSN. All the ones I have listed in the OP allows foreign members. There are some sites though (like Esprit) who allow foreign members but still prefer comments to be in Korean, and then there are others who don't mind if you type in English.

 

If you'd like any recommendations to start~ Spunky Action, Baby! is a great site and has some of my favorite pictures. Esprit is also real good quality (but keep in mind the comments being in Korean rule).

I just know I've especially seen many Kai and Luhan Stan's all over the place. On forums and in real life (all my real life friends think Kai is a dancing sexy beast lol). I feel like it has to do with SM. from the get go SM made it clear they wanted Kai to be the most popular in K and Luhan the most popular in M but oh well.

 

I didn't find Chanyeol attractive at all when he had long greasy hair lol but ever since he got that hair cut

 

He seems to be passionate about rapping though and it always makes me smile when he does a cover

 

 

Only thing I don't like is how he laughs too hard at everything when it's obvious sometimes he doesn't really think its funny lol

 

I always laugh when people just view Kai as a dancing, sexy beast because when I think of him the image that pops into my head isn't him dancing, it's his cute little smile and shy face. The difference in the way people look at things is always amusing. 

 

He's definitely passionate about it and I also think he's good and has potential to grow even more, so it's going to be real exciting to see how he improves over time and what he ends up doing. I think he's passionate about music in general though.

 

Chanyeol is very broadcast-personality-friendly (if that description makes any sense). He definitely loves to over show his amusement although sometimes I know it isn't an act and that's just really how his reaction is to things. I love that you said "when it's obvious sometimes he doesn't really think it's funny", because even though it seems as if it'd be obvious, it always surprises me the amount of people who don't notice it at all. Even with his smiles you can see when it doesn't reach his eyes and when he smiles just to smile, and perhaps that's the same with laughing. But I think the problem there is that so many are really caught up with the "happy virus" persona that they don't try to see much beyond that.

Chanyeol and Kai are kind of similar. Both can be sexy and cute lol but in general they are known for being very passionate wether about dancing or rapping/singing.

 

Both have this image (idk if SM gave it to them) but many casual fans seem unwilling to look beyond that image -> Kai is actually cute and shy and Chanyeol is actually serious sometimes and not just a derpy weirdo lol.

 

I've seen people actually get upset if they don't see Chanyeol smiling like a maniac and think he's sad or something. That's probably why he overreacts because its his image I guess. There's a lot more to Chanyeol that just being goofy and smiling all the time but a lot of times that all I see people want from him.

 

I completely agree with you. I think a lot of people in general have a hard time looking beyond the idol image first given to them and don't realize that a lot of times it's just that - an image. It may be part of who they are as well, but it's definitely not all they are. If that makes sense. Now that we're talking about it, I feel like I've noticed this the most with Chanyeol and Kai (with people not looking beyond what the first impression is and realizing there's more).

 

I think that part of his reactions may have something to do with the fans, yes. But I don't know if it's because he doesn't want them to believe he's actually sad or just because he's really smart with broadcast. I know everyone laughed when he said he studied it on Beatles Code, but I believe it and I think he knows what he's doing lmao. A lot of girls love the image that he gives off in front of the camera and while it may be how he is naturally, it's also probably why he keeps up doing it even when he may not necessarily be in the mood to do so.

 

I don't think he's always sad when he's not super smiley, but he definitely has his serious moments. Sometimes it might be because he's tired, or it might be because of something that nobody but him will know, or it just might be because.. he's content. And doesn't feel like being a happy virus. There's a reason why he doesn't introduce himself as EXO's happy virus, I think.

Lol it's fine. I personally think it gets tiring to always smile so much and give that aura. You constantly see those people with that image wanting to be able to move away from it.

 

YoonA and Suzy have said before that their image holds them back. Granted it gave them tons of popularity but they don't feel like it really does anything for them.

 

Suzy was bashed to no end by Korean netizens when she wore smokey eyeliner because it was sexy and not "cute" like her image, we all know IU's incident lol, etc.

 

Chanyeol may be playing his cards right and doing all the laughing and smiling on purpose but he might regret it later when his fans don't want anything serious from him, but only silly and happy.

 

But SM sucks at promoting the non popular members so he has to make a name for himself basically and his constant laughing does grab attention

This is true. I already see people make comments about "because he's so derpy" and etc and I'm just like you don't pay that much attention to him I guess.

With a group as large as EXO, they definitely have to do the best they can on their own during broadcast because every little thing they do counts. Big laughs, jokes, and talking definitely grabs the attention. Quiet, serious, and reserved doesn't always do that as much. 

 

That's not to say that I think what he does is all a complete act though. I think he's naturally both sociable and playful, and he knows how to make that work for him. 

 

I agree about him looking sexy when he's being serious and rapping.  and I love when he performs this stuff he gets really into it, sometimes eyes closed. I think he really gets into his element there. There's no doubt that 'happy virus' Chanyeol is amusing in many ways but it's this part of him that intrigued me the most.

But seriously it's ridiculous how fast he has climbed up my bias list. He used to be near the bottom because he hardly got screen time, hardly got lines even though he's the main rapper, and his hair was greasy as hell. Now he got a lot of screen time so I noticed his sexiness and has a lot of lines. To top it off he went from looking like a mushroom headed son of a greasy mother clucker...

I've always liked Chanyeol but I can see how the appeal of him has changed from this cute image to this.. more mature looking sexy one. Honestly I see it as well, and I also think he's kind of looked less baby faced since debut as well so that's also apart of it.
