I feel bad for Team Siren tbh... but marketing is marketing and publicity is still publicity no mater if it's good or bad.

After the game against WildTurtle and HotShotGG I heard one of them started crying and turned off her webcam because of twitch comments .-.

Twitch chat takes another victim.  :._.:  I'm so glad they changed the page setup now to where you can hide the chat off to the side so when you hide it now it doesn't take up a bunch of space.

I can understand that people dislike them because of the way they presented themselves but they seem to be honestly passionate about the game and they want to compote against the best.

Why is that such a crime?

Also the sexism against them... man. Not saying they didn't fuel the hate but yeah I think it will take a long time until a female lol player can succeed in the scene even if she has the same skills as other players.

anonymity allows for the stupidest things to be said, and twitch chat is pretty much the epitome of that. And like you said, the way they presented themselves made it basically seem like they were trying to feed off the stereotypes which bred hated from both genders and only allowed those that hated on them even more material to use against them. Honestly though if they broke down after one stream then I worry about their longevity because early on for amateurs that are trying to make it into the scene basically thrive off of what stream revenue they may bring in since the prizes for tourneys they're in are pretty damn low. She needs to either get some mods to be in her chat 24/7, have subscriber mode on 24/7, or just suck it up and accept that they're just words. :x

Well they have to get used to it first though. Most pro players said that after a while they got use to the hate (Reginald for example).

One thing that I would also like to mention is that I expect to see more girl teams before seeing a girl on the same team as other guys.

Which I would really love to happen tbh.

Yeah, I highly doubt there will be any co-ed teams anytime soon, and I kind of doubt any real big rise in female-only teams anytime soon. Saint broke it down pretty well on his steam one night, talking about how there's such a small amount of females to choose from to have something like a pro team and be competitive with it. Maybe with the introduction of the Sirens and the Angels it will get more interested in trying it but it will take a lot of time for them to get on a competitive level.

It also doesn't help that so many female "gamers" who stream on Twitch basically beg for donations and have their tits half out so the actual serious girl gamers can't get any sort of legitimacy.

The big problem with that is the fact that they get so many damn viewers based on that while chicks like hafu get like a 1/4th of the viewers those camwhores get. What I'm trying to say is the problem lies with the viewers, not so much the streamers themselves, they just go with what gets them the most viewers.

Miss Valentine on Absolute Legend Singapore is a girl and starting support (co-Ed team)

The only argument I really see against co-Ed teams is the awkwardness of living together in a gaming house and males not really able to treat females bad (doublelift can't yell at girls and saint acts like he hates girls or something on his team lol)

Anyways, I wonder which is more true. Girls can't go pro because there are not enough of them or most women don't have the competitive spirit to go pro?

Doublelift would yell at god if they were on the same team, i doubt a measly little vagina would get in the way of him telling someone how terrible they are, and it's not nice to point out Saint's mistreatment of Nyjacky like that, that little asian girl is the best mid NA.

I feel like it's probably a mix of both, thrown in with the fact that since there hasn't been anything like it before so it's a really uncertain thing that would require a lot of time and effort to do for something that may not even end up working.

LOL

At least SC2 is looking in the right direction. Scarlett is one of the best foreign progamers in the scene. I wonder if that will benefit other esports games...

One of the problems I see is making a girl team, just for the sake of being girl team. They didn't seem to be looking for good players, they were looking for suitable female candidates, which is basically as sexist as a male team denying the entry of a good female player.

And like it was said, a good part of the female gamers are giving themselves a bad name, by making their streams about showing off the most skin. That makes it hard for actually good female players to get taken seriously.

Not taking away from your point but just because they show their tits doesn't mean they aren't all serious about the game.

I mean I don't think they should have to put on a sweater or something to stream. Some guys do stream without their shirts on but I do admit there are girls that do stream that do it to get more viewers and money which I can't really gold it against them.

Also I don't think that a girl showing her face on her stream shows that she is less serious that the ones that don't.

Just my 2 cents.

Also when I mentioned mixed teams I was mainly talking in the NA scene and EU scene.

I have always felt that a person's intent subtly shows through their actions and not what they say. You can give people the benefit of the doubt but, far too often, their intent is hanging off of their sleeve. There ARE far too many cammers who play for about 30 minutes, tell you to look at their profile, walk on screen (while holding a couple seconds on purpose when they are turned around on purpose, walk away, come back, sit down slowly (and then immediately lean forward with a low cut shirt), and then ask you to donate. I've seen it way...way...way too often to think it's an anamoly because I watch said streams XD.

With that said, there are serious gamers who do also have sex appeal and, ofc, the opposite end. However, it is that very stigma that just allows an excuse to not take those gamers seriously which is the sad part. I'm not sure if this all-girl team is going to help that tbh.

Yeah, NA mixed teams would probably work better simply because the NA scene is way more about personality/image than any other established scene at this point.

Although I agree I have to say that not every female streamer (since it's harder for female gamers to be taken seriously) should be viewed negatively only because they show skin, this of course if they are serious about the game and can actually play decently.

I think Hafu is a good example of a gamer and not because she doesn't show her face but just because she actually likes the game and strives to be better.

I'm not sure about that actually. I think the Asian scene is "kinder" to girls. I mean they already have a team with a girl on it and I think Asian females are more interested in games and are more skilled that non Asians (not trying to stereotype but it's just what I have noticed and it obviously doesn't apply to everyone).

As a girl that likes LOL I would love to see girls compete even if it's against other all female teams.

Eh, easier said than done. I obviously, as a man, would encourage those streamers to show more skin (Please show more, ladies). I think it's the donation part that really fuels that mindset moreso than the showing skin part. People see show skin for money and think of a cam girl rather than a gamer. Hafu is an exception to the rule sadly.

Yes and no. The Asian scene is "kinder" but that one girl is a sub who has never actually played in a tournament game (and the one game where she could have subbed was actually forfeited instead). It's still pretty much as "men's only" as the rest of the world but also way more oriented on results so, if a female gamer goes on a coed team, I honestly feel like there would be more pressure simply because of the higher expectations of the leagues.

In NA, it's more relaxed in that sense. Results are still important but, often, it takes a bit of a back seat to personalities and team cohesion.

Guys can show more skin too, I don't mind (WestRice anyone? unf).

I do agree with you once again.

Has there ever been a girl on a guys team in the NA scene or in the EU scene? I don't believe so.

About the girls being a sub welp at least it's something.

Colalin and miss Valentine are completely different people

All the female diamond 1 in NA hardly show much. Little Jenny, Hafu, Tina, shoujo Ai, Choo Choo Lin are all people that I have rarely seen go to uhhh, the skin way

I was mostly referring to Colalin but yeah I know.

I am aware of everyone you mentioned. But for those 5, you have countless others who do what I'm talking about and the overall stigma is there, although its unfair for those you mentioned.

It's also problematic when an all-girl team is marketed specifically as an all-girl team and not for its skill. They are skilled but that's not what is being pushed so no one is taking them seriously.

But that's one of the things isn't it. The females who perpetrate the stigma have no desire to enter competitive play nor are they skilled enough to. Thus we can assume that the girls who try to enter the scene are serious about the game

I've actually watched all the sirens streams before and I hardly see any of this negative stigma actually being shown except their poorly executed promo video. Even they think it's a joke. Regardless, they are trying their best to improve so people should give them a chance instead of all the uhh. Unmotivational comments

You are right but you know how it goes. LOL skill doesn't translate in streaming at times when you're just watching casually.

The big problem is that the poorly executed promo video is the first that many have seen of them. First impressions, no? I do agree that they should be taken seriously if they are skilled.
