Okay seriously I don't get all those EXO Ls (or like what wongyur said, Tao fans) who talk about how amazing Z.TAO's vocals are after he left EXO and whatnots. How he was overshadowed blah blah blah. How he should have gotten more lines. Like that dude can sing but he ain't that good at it?! He cannot sing live, trust me on that, I've seen enough videos. The other members can sing better and thus, they get more lines. It's not like Tao didn't get any lines. It's really hard to distribute lines with 12 members. What I mean is, I enjoy Tao's music. It's very good IMO but he relies a bit too much on autotune and even so, I still like his music but do not think he is a fantastic singer, just decent. Besides, I don't mind him using autotune if it makes his music better. I just do not understand why some fans praise his vocals to the skies. Yeah, to those fans who say his vocals are main vocal material, may I know why?? Edit: those who do not get the point of this thread, read carefully. It's a freaking question because I'm lost/do not rly understand. The same thing for WYF. He can sing too, but he's not fantastic at it! Though he's rather decent :D I must say that among the members who left EXO, I like Z.TAO's music the most. He writes great lyrics :3 really enjoyed Alone, Reluctantly, Imperial Crown and I'm the Sovereign. it's better than the Lu song or something like that, I cringed so hard and cried and banged my head against the wall. But Lu Han does sing well and I liked most of his song... It's just that Lu song... Is really not my style. Though I must say that I never saw Tao to be the type to be passionate about music. But after watching several interviews, I realized that he loves music and yeah I do enjoy the music he makes as well WELP, just want to say I'm not a freaking hater. All you sensitive fans calm yo tits. I downloaded most of their songs including Lay's :3 except for a few like Lu song T.T Edit: according to wongyur, most EXO fans don't give a shit about Tao so I edited it to Tao fans as well. Edit: some of you gotta chill. It's a genuine question. Just because I do not worship his vocals doesn't make me some kind of anti. And even tho I keep criticizing Lu song, I don't freaking hate Lu Han. In fact, I've preordered his album. Edit: to those who say that you've yet to see anyone over praising him, just know that I'm not the only OH user who saw/read those. Read through the posts by other users for evidence if you need to. And if you want to see the over praising, go to YouTube gdi I'm not a "hater spreading lies" lel if I were a hater, I wouldn't even bother making a damn thread about someone I apparently hate. Because most EXO-Ls don´t care about him anymore. There was an acapella audio of him singing one of his songs (I think it was his) and his voice was good, not powerful but good, that´s why most of us was like ´wtf he can sing´. BUT I don´t think people overrate his singing, honestly. Among the 3 who left LuHan has the most decent vocals, that´s why he was the lead vocal of EXO-M. I love Tao, Tao is amazing but I always felt he had a good voice just not as amazing as people put on same for Kris. Both nice vocals but not OMG how could you not show their voice type of attitude. I will say I wish they had more chances to sing tho, but when You've got Chen on your side... I mean :/ what do you do lol. In ways I wish SM would have put xiumin in K and D.O in M that way the strong vocals would be more even and the back ups.... Suho/Luhan/Lay/Xiumin would have been more balanced but hey.. cant change the past. When you think about it most of the group has decent to good vocal ability. Some are not that fantastic and some are good. While others are the best. I just personally felt balance would have been nice. When Kris sang it was nice... its just there is Chen and isn't like with K where you have Baek and D.O and Suho... three amazing vocals different tones but all pretty good to damn good. Chen was the only really damn good vocalist in M while everyone else was pretty good to ok... so I felt they needed his voice to uphold to what K was more and use Luhan and Lay. which sorta filled the holes for a softer sound in Mandarin which I felt SM didnt see in Tao and Kris which both have deep voices hence why they rapped.. same with Yeol. To compliment each other sound. All can sing but not amazing enough for their lines to be given up by much better vocalist. They needed a deep raspy sound hence why their the rappers. Tao, Luhan and Kris can improve their skills more out of SM, if they're not so outstanding now, they can get better in the future. If they had stayed in SM, they would've been forever underrated and bashed (just look to SM old groups, good singers from debut are still good singers, bad singers never became good singers - it's like an idol can't improve so much after debuting). And let me add, that now they can put out their own compositions, if the songs are bad, no problem, they'll learn about the music market as time goes by. I stan Kris more, so one thing I can say about him. I've never seen any knetizen saying Kris' singing was good, on the other hand, I've seen a lot of people praising him singing ballad songs after leaving SM, and people actually liked his self-composed OST. maybe it's not them being overrated, it's just the fact that people are discovering that these members who left are good singers. EDIT: sehun is a good example, not for singing, but for acting. I've watched some scenes from EXO next door, and the boy is not bad acting, there's a room for improvement, but he could become a decent actor, so why not pushing him a little on the acting field? For example, and Kris and Luhan are pursuing acting and releasing music only for the sake of the fans they had in Exo so I doubt they would put any focus on improving their vocals. For Tao, he's already getting better and will continue to as he releases more music, he is a songwriter and his music is good so it isn't all about his vocals anyways. It's just like (example) being an SM Stan for a long time and a group debuted under SM but you find that you're not a fan, still you decide to just keep track of them since they are under SM aka your biased company. Like someone else stated, his voice isn't necessarily powerful like Chen or Baek, but he's got a nice tone and his music (while overly autotuned) is good. It was just an example for “good singing“ you can put there any name of an idol you think sings good...like..there will always be someone singing better... Tao fans know taos voice. So there was a lot improvement...also we thought his songs maybe will not be liked... I don't surround myself with hardcore Tao fans so I don't really know what they're saying about him. I do enjoy his tone in studio and am really mostly into his compositions as a whole though.
