Why do couples openly judge and pass comment about others?

This has happened a few times to me recently. I was just wondering if this was a couple "thing" to do.

Of course, most people (subconsciously) judge others but I am talking about people who make it blatantly obvious they are judging, and passing a comment about how you look.

For example:

Guy/Girl: "She's pretty"

Guy/Girl: *stares for 5-10 seconds*

"She's a bit fat though" (I'm actually skinny smh)

I usually ignore it, but I just find it really rude, when I'm still there.

I'm not wearing anything outrageous or revealing. So I don't get it. I'm no where near supermodel looks either btw (seriously, believe me) I'm quite young too.

Is this something women do, to get the guy to judge another woman seeing if he would "take the bait" and get them to insult her, so they feel better about themselves?

or do guys do that to make their partner feel jealous?

I don't understand how a random stranger has more of your attention, than your partner, its disrespectful.

Yes.  Such testing happens non-stop - especially from younger, insecure women.   The guy usually doesn't feel the way he is forced to answer.

Well I don't do that with my boyfriend, so you can take relief in the fact that there's decent couples out there too haha

I'm glad  we need more people like you.

It's a superiority complex. People wanting to be better than you. It's normal just grow a thick skin.

I usually do ignore it, but when it happens quite often, eventually it gets annoying. However, I get what you mean. Its nothing personal, because they know nothing about me.

i am not sure why this is based on couples?

i mean, people do this

they judge

wether it's to make themselves feel better or not

wether they single or not

:wth:

I know but I was trying to make it more unique,  since my own experiences involved mostly couples. So, I was just wondering if couples just do that in general.

Indeed, most people do judge but they usually keep it to themselves/not say anything when they are there.

I think you are pretty/attractive regardless of how you see yourself.

If not, those girls/ young women would've ignored you. The ones who say those things are insecure. You know it too.

Next time it happens, take it as a compliment because you know him/her thinks you're attractive. If you're feeling bold, look at the couple and smile at them.

It's always good to repay some small (awful) things like these with kindness and at least show them you're aware of what they've said about you.

If you're feeling pissed, look at them with beady eyes and mumble some mumbo jumbo so she'll think you're a witch and giving her/him a curse.

Or just tell them straight to their face "I heard what you've said about me. That's rude and very uncool" and leave don't look back.

I've been made fun of by boys cause I was short when I's little. I'd either huff at them or didn't say anything. Later, as I grew taller, when boys messed around with me by just staring me like we're in competition, I'd go "What?!" That would startle them. And then, they'd be nice if I saw them again the next time.  or ...started to show interest.
