Official Choi Sooyoung Thread

I havent watched the episode yet but I am crying so hard over Sung Hee and Jung Do's scene ...

Sooyoung is seriously the best at crying. It is so realistic, so heartbreaking. You can tell it is geniune and she is giving her all.

By the way, I watched a preview for episode 4 but I didnt see Sung Hee getting slapped, only Jung Do. Is there another video to watch ?

I am so freakin' excited !

I was afraid at first that the drama wouldnt do well because it is always hard to live it up to the original, in this case, Bad Guys (even tho it is not a sequel, its nickname is Bad Guys 2) and also because of the infamous SM curse but I am soooo happy right now. I am confident that it is totally possible to surpass Bad Guys' ratings and to become OCN's highest rated drama.

So proud of our Sooyoungie :D.

Haters will probably say that it is not because of her but I sure know that if the drama happened to be a flop, all blame would be put on her because she is a SM acting-dol and because Sooyoung is always easy to hate. Whatever, she is killing iiiiit :D.

She better do an acting project ASAP when 38 Police Squad is over. The drama is becoming a major hit so it is better to keep being in the eyes of the public after such a success. I am still mad that after all the praises and recognition she got for My Spring Days, she did nothing for two years --'.

Episode 3 and 4 were amazing ! Obviously, I am sad over the lack of screentime but I love Sooyoung's character and the storyline so it is fine.

Plus we got those chemistry filled scenes between Seo In Guk and her so what more can we ask ? A kiss ? XD. It is still a drama about tax so the fact that there is a little bit of romance is surprising for OCN. In the official thread, some people are compaining about it but the focus isnt on their loveline so it is not that bad. Plus, if it is done right, it is perfect. They have lots of chemistry together and they work greatly with the other characters.

And yeah, I am so happy with the ratings ! I seriously cant seem to believe it ! I dont want to be overconfident but damn, they can surpass Bad Guys and become OCN's highest rated drama :D.

And yeah, some viewers find Sung Hee annoying and a thoughtless smartass. I was surprised because even tho straight laced and ethical characters are more easily disliked than free spirited ones, what Sung Hee did was totally right. She was protecting her boss who she really really loves (and it is seriously so cute how she declared she wanted to work with him for a longtime) and she doesnt trust Jung Do for good reasons. Yeah, she has resentment over what he did to her but who wouldnt ? Even for good reasons, he humiliated her, broke her heart in pieces, of course, she has bad feelings towards him. Plus, her chief didnt tell her in detail about what the heck he is doing while missing work ! What was she supposed to do ? She is the one leading the team, it is not fair. But I have the feelings she will join the team fast. She is becoming more and more fed up with the higher ups' bullshit and her loyalty towards BSI makes her think he may be right. There are also possibilities that she is Chun Gap Soo's daughter, the big boss of the Tax Office.

About Mi Joo, the actress is seriously pretty but I didnt know there were shippers of SH and her lol. I do know that Sooyoung is really fond of her tho. In the BTS, she keeps linking arms and hanging with her and she cant stop mentionning how pretty she is, haha. I am expecting sismance, please :D.

looool i visit soompi's thread everyday, and i'm kinda tired of a certain user always criticizing Sooyoung's character and saying how she's not needed, as well as the love line between her and SIG

like....i get that she likes SIG, therefore it's hard for her to see her fave actor kissing or being all flully with another girl.... but imo, the way she downgrades Sooyoung's character is pretty pathetic

saying that Sooyoung is only there for filler and has no relevance at all? i'm sorry but all her scenes so far were somehow important

plus, she barely has screentime, for god's sake. i'm sure the writers will develop her character more. they should be patient instead of criticizing her already.

this drama is obviously male centered, so what is that user expecting?

about the love line, omg those who are against it should shut the fuck up already. it's not like it plays a huge part in the storyline

at most we get like 1 minute of teasing between Sooyoung and SIG in each episode and THAT'S IT. so why are they sooooo upset? it certainly doesn't "ruin" the rest of the episode, like some people are already claiming.

Hahahaha, you know I really really love you ?! You are such an amazing Sooyoungster and more than that, you know exactly how I feel XD.

About that user, I know exactly which one lol. I have been holding it for quite some time and just decided to let it go but it can be so frustrating. It is like I dont know if there is too much love for SIG or too much dislike for Sooyoung XD.

And yeah, about the arguments we had on the thread, it was quite exhausting. Even now, I dont get how it is a big deal. Those scenes are a few and arent that long either. Of course, if the drama puts too much focus on the romance, I would get why people are against it but the drama is still heavily about tax !

Gosh I do hope Sung Hee is more developped tho. I have been reading some comments from Knetz and she is described as the "nuisance character". Of course, they had to talk about her looks, about her "foot acting" ... etc. Yknow it is so not true but as a fan, it still hurts. Luckily they are a minority and now, I understand what those comments on My Spring Days' articles meant when they talked about how haters were filling the comment section with bashful stuffs on her acting whereas everyone else was praising her. Why do they hate Sooyoung so much ?:O

because she's a good idol actress lol simply as that

it's the same issue with Eunji (atlough she's far more loved than Sooyoung lol), but the point is, everytime Eunji gets a new drama, they can't say anything about her acting (since it's so praised)so they talk about her face and how she's not pretty enough to play the female lead

oh well....

On the other side, those Knetz are a minority. I still remember people praising her when she appears on variety shows and for the SM Halloween Party, the comment saying that it was all about Sooyoung got more than 4000 upvotes so I should stop thinking about the bad and more focus on the good.

But it hurts that Sooyoung is aware of it especially during her latest interview when she mentionned that for a girlgroup member "If you are pretty, you are good". It is seriously hearbreaking but I just love how she claimed having a high esteem of herself, haha. She is a fighter :D.

So I was scrolling through the PU38 tag on Tumblr and I found this:

tumblr_o94rdncu7y1r7k0ggo1_540.gif

tumblr_o94rdncu7y1r7k0ggo2_540.gif

Is it me or that girl looks like MiJoo? Kinda looks like her, I mean:

tumblr_o9hul0v0hc1r7k0ggo2_400.gif

It is her XD.

I am pretty sure Mi Joo knows Jung Do and Sung Hee from the past like college days. That's why SH greeted her by saying "It has been a long time" and that MJ was shocked and kept checking JD's reactions.

I guess they were friends but after the two broke up, SH lost contact with the two of them.

Sooyoung really seems to like the actress tho. I guess she is like the big unnie that girls can't help but fall for ? It reminds me of that scene in the airport with Park Shin Hye, haha.

Seriously tho, I think I will stop commenting on the forum soompi thread and even, I dont think I want to go there anymore.

Y'know, what's funny ? We all wanted her to act with a co-star close to her age but somehow, I so much more prefer fans from Kam Woo Sung or Lee Jong Hyuk XD.

Like yeah, her chemistry with Seo In Guk is amazing but I still have a bitter taste while watching the drama because of those comments. I dont think Sung Hee is annoying at all and it is not because Sooyoung is playing her. Everyone in this drama is flawed and this is what I like about it. But not everyone is treated the same way by viewers which is really frustrating.

Gah whatever, I am just going to check from news sometimes and wont bother to comment there. I actually really enjoyed going there for Sooyoung's previous dramas but not anymore. Oh well.

I do agree that there are a lot of good or at least sensitive comments about her there especially the latest ones.

Frankly, her character is not really well developped and it is the writer's fault. People blaming Sooyoung for making the character annoying are seriously hopeless so I wont rant about it but the writer really does focus more on male characters. In Bad Guys, Jang Yewon was also viewed annoying. I consider her to be that way too because of the way she was written. I thought it was going to be different this time so I am kind of disappointed but I will still wait for more episodes before complaining more.

Ah, double standards really does exist everywhere. I have been a fan of KDramaland for so long and I swear, I dont remember people finding a male character annoying. Only female ones --'.

but i still fail to see what's so annoying about Sooyoung's character, looool

and i'm not saying this just because she's my UB

I don't either. She is pretty much the only character in the drama who is really sticking to the law.

I guess it is a realistic image of our society and in particular when it comes to fiction : we cheer and root for the out of ordinary characters. The free minded ones whereas people like Sung Hee are easily disliked because they are considered as party pooper, boring, not fun at all ...

It is sad but people's mind wont change that easily.

Frankly, I am just going to hope that the writer will actually developp more SH with more screentime.

Based on episode 6, it seems that it will be the case so I am happy.

P.S. I will try not to be as affected as usual by the comments. Not good for my well at all lol.

I'm freaking selfish but all I want is for people to see how good Soo is and appreciate her and I do hope that her popularity flies up so that nobody calls her ugly or anything... :._.:

Selfish ? It is not being selfish at all. You are a fan so of course you want more and more people to appreciate her. I am like that too so if it makes us selfish, I dont care. And it is true that she is good at so many things so it is seriously a shame.

Gah, how I wish she didnt quit Hanbam. I loved it so much when she was MCing and thanks to that, she got a lot of great jobs .... :'(

2014 was a great year for Sooyoungsters in my opinion !

Okay now, I am thinking of coming back to the thread thanks to that comment. My faith in humanity is restored XD

No but seriously, SH is a great character. How I wish more and more people will see it soon because it is getting really annoying to deal with some people.

About the hatred towards Sooyoung, it is so upsetting. Obviously, not everyone hates her because lots of people recognize her talents, otherwise, you wouldnt be able to find any positive comments about her but y'know, it is easy to focus on the negative.

Btw, with Wallet's daughter being now part of the con team, I wonder though what else will be left for CSH to do in the story. I really doubt she'll be able to fit into the team with her honesty & naivety (bordering on stupid). BSI was able to adapt cos he's been open to change but with CSH's personality she's not the kind of person who's open to change (or doing things a different way) so I totally doubt how she can adjust if ever she will join the team or if JD & his cohorts will even let her join the team.

One last thing, I find it weird that CSH was never reprimanded and by that I mean having to deal with some form of disciplinary action when she pulled off that stunt (calling the media) while they raid BPG's house. She was just told off not to do it again and to apologize. I would think with BPG's power, she would have been at least suspended or transferred.

lol i give up on this girl. she's just so pathetic and doesn't have anything good to say about Sunghee even though everyone else is starting to like her more after episode 7 and 8

Really ? More people are starting to like her ? Edited by CutiieAngiie

OH EM GEEEEEEEE ! Episode 9 is definitely one of my favorite episodes along episode 7 and not just because of Sooyoung's screentime XD.

But seriously, those JungHee scenes were soooo cute. Like sooo good. I replayed them so many times !

Yeah I know 38 Police Squad is a crime comedy drama which talks about taxes and con artists but damn it, a little bit of romance isnt going to kill the plot, ok ??? (I dont know who I am referring to but I just have to let it out lol)

Sooyoung and Seo In Guk are seriously nailing it ! Those damn Knetz, if they dare to spoil the whole thing by mentionning bad stuffs, I will kill them :D. How can you not love those scenes ? They are everything and yeap, more and more people liking Sung Hee. I dont care anymore about that user. In fact, I feel pity because it is seriously becoming more and more pathetic and annoying how that user is blaming like everything on Sung Hee O.O. Whatever, my girl is slaying, hahahahahaha.

Mi Joo tho. I liked her so much. I even admitted to myself that damn, the girl is gorgeous and at times, I feel threatened and so, it is impossible for her to betray the team like that, right ? Even if she loved Jung Do that much, it is not right at all and I would seriously be disappointed in her character and the writer too because it would be too cliché, huh ?.

But really, I have hopes that the show wont do such a thing. It keeps tricking us so yeah, lets way for the next episode and scream of we have to :P.

i mean i don't like him in the first place and his fans are making the situation worse

but it's just my opinion

i'm still good if sooyoung's happy

Seriously, you dont like him in the first place ? Why ?

Of course, it is your opinion so I totally respect it but he is great ! Plus seeing how he loves Sooyoung so much, it is adorable :)

Ah, are you talking about those rumors of him having anger issues ?

You were right about more and more people loving Sooyoung's character in 38 Police Squad. Just finished reading some comments and dayum, it feels good :D.

Especially because I am still a little bit bitter over some people when it comes to the early episodes. Even now, I still cant understand why Sung Hee was annoying to some of them. A wonder !

Anyway, Sooyoung is doing great ! She has two successful dramas under her belt in a row (Perfect Sense doesnt count) so even if some Knets love to hate on her, she is going to be more and more recognized as an actress and that's amaziiing :D. I hope that she will have another drama this year. I dont want to wait until next year or worse YEARS O.O

i guess what brings me more joy is that even though the people who work on SM don't trust her and even ask her to decline the offers (bastards, omfg), her dramas always end up doing well. so yeah, they can suck it

Yeah it feels so good ! Like, she is actually the one who broke the SM curse !!? Someone correct me if I am wrong but isnt it the first SM&C produced drama starring one of their idols to be a hit ? Like, in your f*ckin' face, haters, hahahaha.

No but seriously, it is greaaat. Hopefully, she will get more and more screentime in the future episodes. I really want her to showcase her acting skills more :D.

I failed to get my driving licence for the second time today but I dont feel that sad lol. Especially because of that freakin' good news for Sooyoung. It is weird how someone who I dont know at all and live so far away from me can brighten my day just like that (To be fair, I wasnt really depressed before that but actually motivated a lot for the next time lol but it made me happier so it counts.)

However, I read some Knetz' comments and dayum, they were as nasty as usual. Where are all those people who praised her after My Spring Days, huh ? But it was expected so whatever :)

I still have to point out how someone said that the viewer ratings would be around 5% lol. It reminds me of MSD where someone said 2% whereas the drama managed to get double digit ratings a few times and was number 1 on its timeslot. It is pathetic and crazy how they hope she fails. I guess to justify their hatred and meanness ?

So I read the article on dramabeans and yaay for people praising and anticipating her even tho it is "another medical drama". (I gotta say that they are right that it is boring how KDramas follow trends. Like before it was ghost/time travelling/multiple personalities ...).

But but but, now I have new concerns about the drama.

First of all it is greaaaat that Sooyoung is doing another drama "so soon" (well, we had to wait two years after My Spring Day so three dramas in a row isnt so bad for Sooyoungsters) but I want to point out how worrisome it is that the drama doesnt have a network yet nor the other cast members. Like, I freakin love Sooyoung to death, she is my ultimate idol but there is no doubt that she is not an IT girl nor an anticipated and much loved idol actress like Nana became. Instead of getting recognition, 38 Police Squad actually did the opposite so it is like her hardwork and performances before the drama just disappeared and she has to prove her acting skills all over again. My point is that I dont imagine that male lead being some hot shot à la Lee Jong Suk or Kim Soo Hyun. Like I dont want to look down on Sooyoung but this is how it works in KDramas : status. If you are popular, you are most likely to get co-stars popular too. There are exceptions of course but it is how it works usually and sadly.

So even if the male lead is close to her age, for sure, she ain't getting a super popular male lead just because she is Sooyoung and a SNSD member so I just want an actor underrated but talented. I dont care about his status as long as he is good and has great chemistry with Sooyoung. I have a lot of them in mind like Lee Jung Hyuk whom she worked in MSD (eye candy, great actor and chemistry with Sooyoung), Sung Hyuk who was in Jang Bo Ri is here as second male lead/supporting character but was a total scene stealer, Kang Ha Neul although nowadays he is an hot topic etc ...

So yeah, I just want a talented cast for her. A really talented one because at least, even if Knetz want to be meanies, they wont be able to bash on the acting.

Second, a good script. The writer is really new, she has like two works under her belt but it may be not bad at all ! She was the second writer for Five Kids and gosh', it is one of my favorite family dramas. So so good. So I hope she was in charge of the good bits and bring it to Polyclic Doctor. The characters felt like real people because they were so geniune and sincere, I want that for PD.

So even tho rookie writer can be a risk for the lack of experience and recognition, it can be greaaat too for the fresh and original ideas.

But also because she is new, it might be hard to cast people easily too. Like you have to trust the scriptwriter.

Third, the production company. JS Pictures have done some great dramas but also stuffs like Moorim School which was a freakin huge hot mess. There were Lee Hyun Woo, Shin Hyun Joon and some rookie actors and some idols and it didnt blend well lol. So I am a little bit anxious because I dont want it to become an hot mess especially because Knetz will be overjoyed to put the blame on the idol female lead like IU for Moon Lovers with the whole "told ya to cast a real actress" sh*t.

Fourth, no network yet. The female lead isnt popular and the writer is a rookie. I dont expect it to be picked my major public networks like MBC/KBS/SBS but more likely by a cable network. I dont know if it is a good or bad thing. As much as I want her to return to big stuffs, the backlash and ratings are huge deal so it is frightening. On another hand, cable dramas have less pressure for big ratings but the last one where she was really a lead (so not 38PS lol) but Dating Agency Cyrano didnt do well. And even if the drama does well on cable, people might forget it soon unless it is a mega hit on tvN. I am so conflicted.

Sorry for the long rant but yeah, I am torn. I think I will be much happier when all is confirmed and finalized. I have great expectations because of Sooyoung so I dont want to be let down again like for 38PS. It sure is a great drama but it didnt do her justice at all.

kinda hoping it airs in one of the big 3 channels. i have nothing against tvn, but...

She has worked twice with tvN and she didnt get much recognition but it has been three years and back then, the ratings werent as high for them as now so even if the drama isnt that popular, it can easily get 1-2% I think but yeah, better with major networks even if the pressure and backlash are going to get crazy if it fails.

But the thing is that JS Pictures worked with tvN for a few times and most of those dramas were successful (Twenty Again/I need romance series) whereas when they worked for KBS for Moorim School, it didnt end well. Frankly, I am anxious because Polyclinic Doctor is described as a youth medical drama so I feel like they are going to throw lots of rookies including idols. Hé, I dont want to be an hypocrite because Sooyoung is an idol and of course not all idols are bad but if we add more idols to the cast just because we need interns (so young people), I feel like it is so going to be a mess à la MS. Pretty much most dramas filled with idols dont do well at all. (Biggest example : To the Beautiful You).

i need more details of the drama :rlytearpls:

Me too ! They should have released the news of her casting when pretty much everything has been confirmed like the other cast members, the network ... etc. Now, we have to suffer ! It is going to be so looong and I dont even expect it to be for the end of 2016 but more like 2017. Gosh', I know I shouldnt complain because this is a great opportunity for Sooyoung's acting career but please, more updates, people ! :D.
