Apparently SBS program, Midnight TV Entertainment is being cancelled (this show was where Sooyoung was one of the MCs)

 

"The Midnight TV Entertainment, also known as Hanbam, for which Sooyoung was one of the main MCs from 2012 to 2014, for 2.5 years, is ending its broadcast tonight, or rather it's getting cancelled. The entertainment news show originally started in 1995, and Sooyoung was the 16th female MC on the show and did very well in it despite each episode being live broadcast. She also received a MC award on SBS Entertainment Awards. Damn, it is sad for Hanbam. It was so fun when Sooyoung was one of the MC. She had such a great chemistry with Yoon Do Hyun. Am I being too arrogant for thinking that the show wouldn't be cancelled if she was still there ? I guess so. Anyway, I liked the reporters and they have been working for such a longtime together. Sad ...

 

But but script reading for 38 Police Squad ! Finally, some news ! I am so freakin' excited, it is not even funny. There arent a lot of things to say but the cast look good together. I hope it does well !!

It is just for the script reading so perhaps, her hairstyle will change for the filming ?

I get what you mean though. I just hope it won't be like Dating Agency Cyrano because damn, that was tragic. She looked so much better in the early episodes. Like a real business woman. They aint going to make her look like a bag of potatoes just because she is a civil servant, right ?

Did anyone manage to find some comments/reactions about the drama ? I found some but not much. Based on the few articles I read (or at least, tried very hard XD), it is getting a lot of praises for Sooyoung's acting and the storyline which is always good !

OMG I know ! Lots of people including me dont really like when she wears bangs for her dramas but she looked so good yet simply classy, especially with that lipstick ♥. I loved how she didnt even have to talk to be funny XD. Plus, she already has great chemistry with Seo In Guk and Ma Dong Seok ! I cant waiiiit :D

Well, I guess when you put it that way, I can understand why you are annoyed with her look in the poster.

I don't know about her being replaced by the second female lead in this drama because of what happened to Yuri but I have faith in the drama thanks to the amazing writer and director so yeah', let's have faith and wait.

Maybe I am the only one kind of liking it, even tho I have to admit that if I had to compare, the other female lead looks totally good XD.

but you see, just because someone is nerdy it doesn't mean he/she dresses that way or doesn't feel confident with his/her beauty. to make it worse, people think nerdy = glasses. lol

At least, she seems to be very happy to work with such a great cast and team so I am happy for her but yeah, it is such a contrast when you see her on photoshoots and in dramas. Maybe she feels confortable this way ? She did say that when she acted, she didnt want to focus on being pretty but at the same time, I want her to be :'(

Sooyoung talked about her role in 38 Police Squad in the magazine Grazia :

I am really happy after reading this because it makes me anticipate her role so much more :D.

Also, she is so going to bicker with Seo In Guk's character and I cant wait for it. Can you imagine the crazy chemistry between those two gorgeous human beings ? Haha.

I know she looks quite nerdy but I think she is cute XD.

I am guessing that at the beginning, she is very strict when it comes to rule but then, after spending so much time with a team full of thieves and con artists, she comes to be ... cooler ? LOL.

I just hope her character aint going to be the annoying type because that look and glasses remind me of those scary and boring school staff members that people used to make fun of. Some were nice tho but you get what I mean plus bickering with Seo In Gook ? It is already hot :D.

How were the TV ratings for Perfect Sense? Did it do well?

If I remember correctly it was under 2%. It is not that bad because it is a drama special and it was airing at 1PM but yeah, I still wish it would have at least 10%. Let's hope 38 Police Squad hit daebak though :D.

Did anyone watch the new teaser for 38 Police Squad ? They didnt even introduce Sooyoung's character whereas she is the female lead but instead they introduced the supporting characters ...

I am seriously so upset right now. I was cool when the latest promos were all about the two male leads but what is the f*cking point of being cast as the female lead if it is to be treated like that ?

Please tell me that they actually introduced her and I just didnt see that because it is the morning and I am too damn tired ! How could they do that ?

Honestly I'm really disappointed it's been 2 years since her last official drama and I'm expecting more :(

I do agree that it is disappointing but I still want to believe that her role wont be that small. OCN's dramas are known to be very male centered which is a shame because I really wanted them to show more female power in this drama but if Sooyoung chose that drama, it gotta be for a good reason so I am just gonna sit and enjoy. Plus, who knows ? Maybe she is going to star in another drama before the end of the year, haha.

 

What am I even saying lol. She looks good in the preview tho. You can tell it is a different character and I just love how she gets along so well with her co-stars. In the live chat, the three of them were so adorable. I hope to see more of their interactions in the drama seriously.

Anyway, I finally finished the two episodes of 38 Police Squad and although I am disappointed over the serious lack of screentime for Sooyoung, I like the characters and the storyline so I am just going to hope for more Sung hee in the next episodes.

I am not sure about a loveline tho. It looks like SIG's character conned her badly in the past but I dont see how it is tragic like SIG mentionned in the press con. Maybe he didnt scam her but her family and someone commited suicide ? This is what tragic sounds to me anyway.

I am glad that the drama is off to a good start. Finally, the SM curse is over, haha. Well, I guess it is better to wait for more episodes before being overjoyed but yeap.

P.S. Sooyoung looks gorgeous with the glass tho. Not like in the photoshoots but she is hella cute and pretty. I got scared before with the stills but she looks good and so in point with the character. I already love her :D.

True; she looks much prettier in the actual drama than in the posters

 

I thought she had decent screentime in the first episode. Second episode...not so much. But basrd on the teaser for episode 3; i think we'll see her more; since she finally founds out about SIG's character (don't remember his name)

I am expecting romance too because they got Sooyoung and Seo In Guk so y'know, it would be a shame to waste the potential great chemistry but the writer/producer duo doesnt really have lovelines in their dramas so my expectations aren't that high, haha. I do think there would be a lot of teasing tho. But can they really joke with each other when they share a tragic past ? I gotta say I am really intrigued ;D.

 

The screentime wasnt equal for her in the first two episodes but so was Seo In Guk's. Luckily, the quality of the episodes were quite good so it is not that upsetting.

But yeap, in the teaser for episode 3, it looks like she will have more screentime so I am happy :D.

I hope the ratings will increase. I read that they want to surpass Bad Guys's ratings which is the highest rated drama of OCN with over 4%. I dont know if they will be able too but it is good to have a goal. If they manage to get more than 3%, it is still really amazing because I saw the previous dramas' ratings in that timeslot and so far, 38 Police Squad is doing better.

But thanks a lot ! I was going to check all those dramas' viewer ratings too to compare with the first episodes of 38 Police Squad but you made my life easier, haha.

I dont know if it is safe to say that 38 Police Squad is on the way of becoming another OCN's hit but for now, the viewer ratings are great ! A decrease is totally possible for the next episodes so I hope I aint jinx it lol.

 

As for Bad Guys, I am sure that Park Hae Jin contribued plenty because he has a lof of popularity and fans but I think it is also because the story is so good. Each episode seemed like a movie and seriously, killers going after killers ? Awesome :D.

Does anyone know tho which drama is competing against 38 Police Squad in the timeslot ? And why did they change the timeslot too ? It was Sat/Sun at first but I read they wanted to try the Fri/Sat timeslot !?. Is it a risky move because people may not be used to.
